Which loads for P-09 shooting competition?
« on: April 25, 2017, 08:48:50 PM »
I am going to be using my 9mm P-09 for shooting USPSA and Action Steel.  I'd like to inquire what grain bullets the group would recommend and why.  Thanks in advance.

The most popular is 147, 135 and 124's. The 135 grain bullet gives the best of both worlds, less perceived recoil with good slide speed. You need to get a sample of each and see for yourself which weight gives you the best feel. 100 packs are cheap and available from multiple vendors. I use ACME coated bullets but everyone has their favorite. We can't tell you which one will be yours.

I've wanted to try 135's but I don't reload so I stick with 147's from a small munitions manufacture out of Texas. They produce a round specifically for 3 gun and USPSA minor powerfactor.

You'll get more mileage (less cost per round) with 124gr.  If you're serious about getting better it's gonna take a lot of rounds down range!

125 Grain blue bullets are what many competition shooters use. I use a 124 grain Berrys bullet that is plated.

SNS Casting has a great 125 truncated cone that you can load longer than 1.1 in CZ's.  The short throats in CZ's can cause issues with feeding the initial round when manually running the action.

Black Bullets International has a similar cone profile if you'd prefer black

At this time, I do not have my hand loading gear setup so I can only use pre-assembled ammunition.

Eggleston Munitions sells coated lead loaded ammo for pretty cheap.
