CZ 75 pre B
« on: April 26, 2017, 11:29:13 AM »
Good afternoon everybody.

I got the pictures of a CZ 75 pre B model from a seller in Italy.
I am intentioned to buy her.
It was rebarelled in 7.65 Parabellum since 9 mm Luger is still forbidden to civilians in Italy (not for carbines) and when the gun was imported 9x21 IMI wasn't born yet.

Can you please check the pictures and tell me if in your opinion its an original blue finish or if the gun has been reblued and refinished instead ?

Any advise and suggestion is well accepted.

Thank you in advance.

That is a very interesting and nice looking CZ 75. I cannot help with determining if it has been refinished. However, it appears to be a 1982-1983 CZ 75 based on the Made in Czechoslovakia mark on a single line and the safety having the second larger hole in the middle.
The pistols of that time were blued and not painted with the later enamel like finish starting in 1984. It's a nice blue on these older CZs but nothing super special. Even if it has been re-blued, as long as its nicely done and still in excellent condition, that is what would matter to me. I would love to shoot it in that caliber.
Good luck with your purchase decision. If you do buy it, give us an update when you receive it and on how it shoots.

Edit - When I shoot the older models, I replace the original "waffle" grips and the slide stop with newer versions to preserve them.

Have very much the same opinion as Psyop96 as far as the bluing goes, looks very good from the pics......are you looking to turn it back to 9mm? Just curious what the seller is asking for it?

Can't say for sure about the bluing, but the markings on the gun look nice and deep. If it was re-blued, it certainly wasn't filed much if at all. Looks nice to me.

Thanks to all partecipants to this discussion.

Well, should she be reblued, her value for collectors would immediately reduced of about one half. That's why I asked as first question.
Seller asked me 600? that is about $655.

I can't unfortunately change the caliber of the gun so must still keep it in 7.65 Parabellum unless I find and official registered barrel in 9x21 since, as I said, heand guns in 9 mm Luger are forbidden to civilians in Italy.

ETA this gun is a bit rare in Italy with 9 mm Para still engraved over her slide since generally all references to 9 mm Parabellum must be removed by milling the slide.

Thank you for sharing some information on firearms ownership in Italy. That would be a very desirable CZ 75 in the States. There have been a recent flood of surplus ones but not from this period and much lesser overall quality. Will this be more of a collector piece or for shooting too?

You're very welcome.

I will ad it to my collection since I have an extended special firearms collection license.
IMHO it's no worth to shoot with such a beauty in very good shape which probably just shooted few rounds at the firearms proof bank.

This is a 1981 that came complete with the original colorful cardboard box. Supposedly only shot at the factory but once a year, I will try to shoot around 20 rounds or so for that satisfaction. It's difficult to take photos to properly show off the blue.

Thanks. Yes, the same "waffle" plastic grips with the old CZ logo.

I bought the CZ 75 five minutes ago. Serial number is # 80994.

She will be here in my hands in about 2 weeks since seller must ship it from Rome to a local dealer in Milan where I live.

Thanks again for your interventions to this thread.

Congratulations. Sounds like a 1983 made one.
