How much love for CZ75B SA?
« on: May 05, 2017, 04:36:55 PM »
The SA model has been growing on me (on paper).  I've drooled over another compact - all steel, but in reality, I have a few carry options already and for the main purpose of target shooting, a full size gun is not a bad thing!  I love my Matte Stainless (pretty much) as is, but wouldn't mind tweaking with a new SA to the next level with regard to a light, creepless trigger, etc.

Advice?

Traditional Compact or SA?

I recently just picked up a CZ 75B SA and its a dream to shoot. I cant wait to put more range time in and properly break in the trigger.

I also have a 75B Matte Stainless. That is also a great looker and shooter.

If I had it to do over again, I would start with an SA instead of a standard DA/SA, if for nothing else, the beavertail shape.  Plus the trigger shape, etc. is already there.  Mine is functionally an SAO but there are differences, I'm told.  I'll probably never know, LOL.

After six years and 50k rounds, I've adapted to the converted service gun.

I need a TSO in 9mm, really, to go with the 97B"E".  That's the ticket.  Until then, I'll survive with my lowly, plain ol' 75B with all the guts removed.   My bullseye match gun.

I just picked this one up. Already had the barrel bushing, sear spacer, adjustable sear, longer shadow slide stop, SAO trigger, short reset system, trigger spring, SP-01 rubber grips and Dawson sights installed. It's currently running on a 12# recoil spring and a 13# hammer spring. It will shoot anything I put through it from 115gr fmj to 147gr hp's.

I've modified a lot of SA/DA CZ's and they are way smoother than the stock SA.  Now, comparing a stock SA/DA and stock SA both are pretty stiff in my experience.....I'm sure a little work can get the SA pretty sweet though.  ::)

Yes!  Thanks for the pics.

I read that CGW's race hammer allows for safety engagement when hammer is down.  This wouldn't be a SD pistol, but still a turn off as Iike taking others to shoot, including newbies.  I'm probably way ahead of myself,  but are there alernative hammers that remove the creep / reduce SA pull vs. Stock but don't feature the non standard safety engagement nuance?

I too have a SA model that I enjoy shooting quite a bit and was also looking st the CGW Hammer for purchase. Is there something wrong with the Safety being able to engage on a downed hammer?

As I understand it damage if you rack the slide.

The potential problems with systems that allow this by design in a self defense gun (like Canik or Beretta 92FS) is the potential for one to forget to disengage the safety.

For my interest in the SA, only the first is my concern.

I converted my Matte to SA and it has a trigger I don't want to mess with. Typical CZ take-up and a crisp break at 4lbs. I ran up and down a dueling tree and only had a few misses at 12 yards in 60 shots. And, I got that nice beavertail on it along with ambi safeties. The trigger is only a half pound heavier than my 40 factory SAO. The 40 has the SRT which is a plus.

The correct answer is to get both the SA AND the Compact!  ;D

I had CGW turn my SA into a Copperhead and its a great shooter! You can tune the 6SAO trigger to have very little to no creep, a 3 pound break and a 1mm reset and it is a thing of beauty! I like the setup so much that I have it on 2 other guns and recommend any CZ fan have at least one tuned-up SAO gun.

97BE, SP01 "Black Shadow", 75B SA Copperhead. All of them have been down to Louisiana to see David and Scott  ;)
