I am planning on sending a 1988 CZ 85 Pre-B to CGW for a complete overhaul sometime later this year. I am planning on having the staked front sight removed and a transverse dovetail cut into the slide for an upgraded front sight.

I am also considering a CGW 10X bushing to be installed as well. I was thinking that theoretically, this should work by removing the stock front sight/bushing, installing the upgraded bushing, and then machining the new front sight dovetail (bushing to be retained by the sight when pressed into the dovetail).

However, looking at another post on the forum, I found out that the bushing for Pre-B's is a threaded assembly, and not a press-fit bushing like the newer guns. Is it still possible to install a 10X bushing on a Pre-B with this threaded bushing, or am I stuck with the stock bushing?

That 10X bushing will not fit the pre-B with threaded bushing.
Look in the gunsmithing section for the solution upon which I settled.
It does shoot very well now.

If the gun is going to David, he can likely make a bushing that will solve any sloppy fit problem.

It might not be cheap.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

I mean, if the 10X bushing isn't going to work, I will just keep the stock threaded bushing in the gun and be just as happy. I just wanted to check and see if maybe CGW has some magic ju-ju they can do to get a 10X bushing in an old Pre-B.

I did not know the pre-b models had a threaded bushing. I'm assuming the transitional models with a cross pin are the same as the B models bushing wise?

That's correct, I have a 10x bushing in my transitional.

As Earl said the 10X fits all of the Transitionals just like the B models. I have 10 Transitionals all with the bushings installed. David can install the bushing in any of the older models also with a simple modification but it requires milling for a dovetailed front sight. I don't know why anyone would not want to upgrade the older guns to the modern sights along with the new bushing so it's a no brainer to get this done.

^^^  That's solid information ^^^

Yes, we can do our precision match barrel bushing on the older "tenon" post front sight models.  However, it requires the slide be milled for a modern 1911 style dovetail front sight.

We have done quite a few with -0- complaints.

Schmeky, can you confirm the comment earlier in the thread about pre transitional, pre b models having a "threaded" bushing? I always thought they were the same with the exception of the staked sight post going through the bushing. I'd like to know before I wail away on one someday in the future.

We just installed one of our 7580X bushings in a CZ threaded slide.  It fit very tight and worked fine.
