New P-07 with Sloppy Slide, What's Up with This??
« on: June 02, 2017, 08:44:15 AM »
I just received my new P-07 and upon initial inspection and cleaning I noticed the muzzle end of the slide goes up and down maybe 1/32".
No slop side-to-side, just vertical. The barrel is tight in the bushing, but the whole slide moves up and down at muzzle end.

All my other CZ's are metal frame with a tight fit. I can't imagine this P-07 being accurate with that much vertical slide movement.

Thought I'd ask 'the Crowd' before contacting CZ. I know there are metal 'tangs' cast into the polymer frame; can these be adjusted??

If the gap is similar to what you see in the picture it is normal. Haven't seen a P-Series gun that didn't have the vertical play.

The metal guns have full length slide rails, on the P-Series guns there is no contact point for the slide up front.

Yep perfectly normal. My P-07 came out of the box that way and is supremely accurate. More than 5k rnds later it's still the same.

Thanks for the images and reassuring responses. Yes it's similar to the muzzle gap that I have. And it goes up and down considerably.
Of course the barrel is parallel to slide and centered securely by the front bushing. Sighting is along the slide; so I guess as the gun is fired and if it stays pushed upward it's AOK. But I have to say there's a lot more slop than my HK VP-9.

Can the guide tabs be adjusted to reduce the vertical play?

Just shoot it, I'd bet it groups tighter than the HK.

Yeah, You guys are probably right. As long as when I shoot it moves consistently all the way up or all the way down it probably doesn't matter.

Although I like the VP-9 I'm weeding out my strikers in favor of DA/SA, and I wanted the P-07 for a dedicated Optics gun. So before I send the slide off to CZCustom for milling; I guess I should just go to the range and see what she does.

P-07 ,, there's nothing not to like. After putting in a few cgw Springs and did the polishing, OMG
I had a Springfield XD mod 2 9 mm about six months ,then I saw a picture of the po7 , love at first sight. I sold the Springfield and bought the CZ.
I liked my P07 so much I got the PO 9 and love that even more it's now my EDC.
After I got it,  :) I started thinking with carrying an extra magazine I've got 39 rounds of ammo.oh ya

If I like the P-07 with the milled slide and DP Pro with Leupold's co-witness rear iron' and (if it works) using the P-07's front suppressor sight; I'll ditch my Glock 17 MOS and do the same setup with a P-09 suppressor model with 21 extended mags.

The HK will be my last remaining striker. That my go toward a CZ 97BD.   :-\

OK, range update to follow.
Planning to mail the slide out for milling early next week. The real test will be how it shoots with the DP, co-witness, and a comp.

And to be fair, I just compared side-by-side with the HK VP-9 and it also has at least as much vertical play at muzzle end I hadn't noticed before, plus their slide rides over the frame so you don't see the gap. I guess it was handling the threaded barrel end on the P-07 that  brought it to my attention.

As long as the barrel locks up in the slide you are gtg. Slide play won't be a factor. P-07 and P-09 are consistently the most mechanically accurate pistols that CZ makes.

This.  The slide is just rocking in the rail tab clearance because the close spacing of the rail tabs in the frame.  The sight to barrel dimensions are not changing at all, and the slide returns to the same position relative to the frame after each shot anyway.  Nothing to be concerned about at all.  If there wasn't any clearance, the slide wouldn't cycle.

Thanks for the input Joe. I watched your recent video comparing the New P-10c to P-07 offhand at 25 yards. If I could shoot 1/2 that well Joe I'd be thrilled.  My old eyes can barely see the bulls-eye anymore at 25 yards, never mind hit it. So, I guess the P-07 will be AOK and it's my shooting that needs fixing.  ::)  I'm hoping the milled in DP optics will be a help.
