P07 Frame Rail Burrs

Hi all,

I have a 2014 production CZ p07 that I recently purchased second hand.

I am not the original owner of the firearm, but it was purchased in near new condition.

I have proceeded to put 700 rounds through the gun of standard 115 factory ball, without many bobbles.

When cleaning the gun today, I noticed that the left front frame rail insert has developed burrs on the front and back. Is this a bad heat treat issue? Should I contact CZ and see what they can do about it? Or should I simply continue shooting and hope the burr works itself out?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't feel a burr, but I do have some shiny spots on the black insert rails.  If you can feel a burr I would knock it off with a file and check the slide rails for a burr.  Mine is fine. 



This is a P-07 front insert, not a P-10C.

I can feel raised metal in both the front and back. The gun was lubed with CLP prior to shooting.

I guess i'll knock it off with a file and see if it progresses.

My wifes had a razor sharp one right there on the rearward facing side after 200 rounds, noticed it when cleaning and it snagged the q-tip. I filed it down, since then she has put another 50 rounds through it.

I also noticed that area was iffy before I shot mine, and ended up filing it gently before hand, rounding off that entire edge. So far it seems ok. I put 100+ through mine, though mine was lubed with fancy moly grease.

I fired an eMail off to CZ Warranty to see if this is normal wear or not.

Been using Hoppe's gun grease on rails of guns for a while now, and I feel it works very well

After reading a lively CZ Forum discussion of Oil vs. Grease (another thread) I picked up on a member's recommendation to try EWG Extreme Weapons Grease for the rails and any metal-to-metal sliding parts. It works great, especially in warm climates!

BTW, Should I assume you didn't go 700 rounds between cleaning/lubing a near-new gun??

I shoot 150-200 rounds between cleanings and lubings. I've CLP for years and never had any issues.

I've always found CLP to be quite good. If its good enough for a 240 bravo I feel it should lubricate a pistol properly.

I have a glock 34 with 35000 rounds through it (IDPA shooter) and have never used anything else either.

I use CLP as well with no issues and THOUSANDS of rnds though my CZ's with no appreciable wear. I don't buy the grease on the rails thing and I think in many cases especially in cold weather it can slow the slide function down which is not desirable for the obvious reason.

"Good morning,

 

The firearm itself will wear over time however those two areas should not cause any issues. The slide should be harder than the inserts as they are replaceable, though they are still heat treated. You can continue to monitor them for wear, and if they grow larger then we would recommend replacing them.

So, I'll continue shooting it and see what happens.
