CZ resistance guns (pre WWII)
« on: June 25, 2017, 10:09:09 PM »
I bought a CZ Model 27 a few years back. Looking it over there are absolutely no numbers or markings except the Bohmische Waffenfabrik A.G in Prag, and the swastika under the hawk/eagle. I quit shooing it due to not having any numbers on anything. Looking for opinions as to if it is a resistance gun and possible value.

The German text on the top of the slide began in 1940 after the occupation, so it is not likely to be a "resistance" gun.

As for missing serial numbers, some have been reported (Berger, Know Your Czechoslovakian Pistols) as things were a little hectic during the war years.

As to worth, the swastika marking may increase value (judging by the asking prices on Gunbroker.com).

Haven't heard that term before.  Sounds just like a '27 I have.  ;)

I also have a '24 with no serial number.  The top of the slide appears to have been shaved, but then was remarked 'CESKA ZBROJOVKA A. S v PRAZE'.  The side of the slide doesn't appear to have ever had a serial number on it.

Found these comments on the web from another CZ owner.

THIs IS A VERY UNUSUAL PISTOL INDUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS NEVER SERIAL NUMBERED. VERY MUCH LIKE THE UN-NUMBERED CZ 24 PISTOLS YOU MAY BE FAMILIAR WITH. I HAVE NOT HEARD A DEFINATIVE EXPLANTION FOR THIS, IT MAY HAVE BEEN STOLEN OUT OF THE FACTORY FOR THE CZECH RESITIANCE BUT MORE THAN LIKELY THERE WAS A GERMAN REQUIRMENT FOR THIS WHICH MAY ALSO EXPLAIN WHY SOME CZ's WERE NOT NUMBERED AS WELL.
