Which 3-lug adapter for Scorpion without factory barrel nut?
« on: September 18, 2017, 05:53:35 PM »
Hey guys.

I bought a Scorpion pistol in the "flash can" configuration that had the carbine sized hand guard.  I've ordered and will soon be installing the HBI hand guard to replace this.

Now I need a 3 lug adapter for this setup.  The HK parts one indexes against the factory barrel nut and compensator spring... which I don't have (removed carbine barrel nut and won't have barrel nut after installation of HBI hand guard).

The Manticore one looks like it would work (cranks up against the larger barrel threads and I assume red loctite it) but it's also not available.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Any one will work with appropriate torque and some rocksett. I even know a fella who sells a tool to torque it down easily. Even has a czforum discount ;)

I'm looking for one that will go over the larger 18mm barrel threads rather than having one go over the smaller 1/2 x 28 threads and leave the larger threads exposed (I don't have a thread protector as my pistol didn't come with one).

Do you know of any that have this thread pitch?

The factory 18x1 threads are crap. I wouldn't trust the alignment of anything threaded to them.

18x1 with space for 1/2-28? Can't say I'm aware of any. Best bet is just get 1/2-28 and a thread protector.

If you didn't mind waiting till I get a free minute I could make you a protector from scrap for the cost of shipping.  Wouldn't take 5 minutes on the lathe, just need to know what OD and thickness you want.  Or I'd toss it in gratis if you bought a 3 lug wrench or something else.

Nate's 3-lug torque tool is very handy, I highly recommend.

Depending on your suppressor Griffin Armament taper mount might be an option. They make a brake with 18x1 threads but it needs bored out for 9mm.
On there page the have a 18x1 taper adapter but it's still currently in development so who knows how long that may be.

I think I'm going to try to contact Manticore and find out what the scoop is on their adapter, since it's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

If it's totally discontinued then I'll look into other options but if they will be producing more of them I can wait a little while.
