Anyone here shoot a P-09 .40 in Limited?
« on: September 19, 2017, 04:04:11 PM »
I've been looking for a gun to try out for Limited, and I'm thinking a TS may be a bit beyond my budget for a while. Has anyone tried a P-09 in .40? CZC sells an extended base pad, and mag well, but I haven't come across any adjustable rear sights. Any input, good or bad? Thanks in advance!

I don't think it'll be a particularly competitive option. Honestly, I would just shoot your 9s in Limited Minor. I don't see any reason to put money into a gun for Limited that will likely be replaced if you do decide to get into Limited.

Well, I have been shooting my 9s in Limited, and I guess it's a trade off of having more in the mag vs Major scoring. Would you recommend saving up for a TS? Something else? Thanks.

A P09 .40 will have roughly the same capacity as a TS .40 at 140mm with spring kits.  The big downfall (for me) is that the P09 with an aftermarket hammer can't be safely ran cocked and locked (you don't want the first round DA in Limited).

I would recommend staying in minor and concentrating on "A's" faster!  First round da and light polymer frame of the 09 is going to be slower with major pf. Save your pennies and keep your eyes open for a used ts or tso. That's what I did and lucked up on a nice used tso for great deal. Remember......the ammo is more expensive too.
