TSO Basepads
« on: October 18, 2017, 05:10:09 PM »
Will TSO magazine base pads fit onto a TS magazine?

I ordered some new aluminum ones, but they are a smaller and almost square.  My Tac Sport pads are longer.

The vendor explanation was, Yes, they will fit if I have TSO magazine retaining plates.  I see that CZ calls this part a base lock (#38) on their List of Parts.

Do I need to get some TSO retaining plates/base locks?

I will like to know.  Also wondering what is recommended for base plate or mag extender for the TSO for USPSA .

Don't want to start a new threat.

TS, TSO and Czechmate pistols all use the same size magazine; CM is 9mm only however mag tube is same dimension, just different internal dimensions. Therefore basepads for these models are interchangeable.  I prefer to run CZC basepads with Grams springs/followers, however that's just me.  Lots of options out  there to choose from.

I don't recall how the TSO basepad is secured but as mentioned the TS, TSO, and CM magazine tubes are all the same size.

I have both the springer precision extended base pads and CZC extended base pads.  I prefer the CZC base pads for ease of removal and cleaning.  I have had to replace several setscrews on the springer precision basepads and they are not at the range/match friendly to pull apart for quick cleaning.  The CZC base pads can be pulled down in two seconds for those at the range/match cleaning situations.

I also have both the Grams and CZC followers/springs.  I prefer the Grams follower and CZC spring.  You have to drill a small hole in the Grams follower in order to use the CZC spring with the Grams follower but it works and is easy.  The CZC follower can get twisted and get forced through the mag lips and the gun will try to chamber it on empty.  Not the best situation during a match.  The Grams follower is slightly thicker and can't be forced through the feed lips on the magazine.  The CZC springs are cheaper when ordered in bulk.

Cheers,
Toby

the tso pad is secured by the retaining plate, its a little different than the standard 75 that has an actual dimple in the retaining plate so it snaps in easy. The Tso plate is flat and you need to tilt in once installed to be sure it "snaps"
