Maybe a good used PX4 or a Bersa Thunder ultra compact? I?ve never owned or shot either but I have heard no real negatives either.

would you recommend the steel frame over the polymer?

I prefer the Steel framed Pistols, but the Poly Framed Pistols have proved lighter and fairly durable.

where did you buys yours?

Special Order through LGS.  Grabagun.com just happened to have a shipment of them.

how much and what was the "some gunsmithing" done on it. thanks in advance.

Supplied Magazines that came with these Pistols are trash.  Replaced them with Mec-Gar Cz75B Magazines.  Replaced Extractor Springs with Wolff Extra Power Extractor Springs, due to FTE problems.  After these fixes, both have been excellent shooters.  I have carried the Mid-Size, and the Full Size has been used for a few IPSC Matches.
