Good deal, or not?
« on: November 12, 2017, 10:32:35 AM »
There is a 97B for sale locally. Owner says it's about ten years old, and has more than 500, but less than 1,000 rounds through it. Comes with six mags, for $550. I don't shoot much .45, but I definitely collect CZ pistols, especially their non-polymer offerings. What do y'all think?

That's a pretty decent price but it's 10 years old and CZ updated the 97 in 2012 with better mags and an improved/longer feed ramp to function properly with defensive/hollow point ammo.
If you just stick with ball ammo I'd say grab it but if you want to use hollow points and such updating the gun with the new barrel
and a couple improved mags will put it in the price range of a new gun.

Seems reasonable for a pistol with 6 magazines (check the price on CZ97 mags).
I don't look like my avatar!

I paid $630 for mine brand new last year. Upgrading to a new style barrel will put you well over the cost of a new 97B. I think the early ones had a different barrel bushing as well. The extra mags make it a tempting deal, but if they're different as well I would pass.

Thanks! Of course, I've been collecting CZs for about ten years now, so I may already have a carry piece. Or two.

I had to check my email to see when CZ replaced my RAMI, after only 50 rounds. That was 2010. So it took 7 years before I would trust another polymer CZ.

Has 6 Mags with it and only fired 1000 Rds ?? I find that hard to believe .
