CZ Shadow 2 Airsoft pistol?
« on: January 12, 2018, 10:56:37 AM »
Is anyone aware of a Airsoft pistol replica of the Shadow 2?
I would love to have one to train indoors for USPSA.

Thank you!

The only airsoft I know of is a lightweight, cheap plastic copy. It's probably not what you are looking for. There are a couple of BB pistols available, one is very nice, if expensive, but I don't recommend steel BB's for indoors, as they tend to ricochet  too much, even with a trap. BB's are strictly for outdoors. There IS a lead pellet firing, CO2, blow back action copy of the P09, which is very similar to the Shadow. With a trap, lead pellets are safe to fire indoors. Of course, being plastic, it is a lot lighter than a Shadow.

I found the softer recoil of the airsoft led to me getting sloppy on my grip.

That is why I combine both air gun gun with regular range time. I do engagement training with the air gun, along with an hour or so on the range a couple of times a month. Air guns will help you build skill, range time makes sure it is properly applied.

I have an SP01 Shadow airsoft. Feel and control are identical to my competition one but super light in weight comparison. Shoot really well at abot 10 yards and ok out a bit more. I use the mini airsoft paintballs and a block wall for practice. Purchased through Amazon at about $100.

They dont seem to carry the better quality ones anymore (maybe Pyramyd Air) but a search of Amazon for Airsoft CZ shows some decent ASG guns.

No, I did an exhaustive search with 3 different search engines. It's just not made. I guess the Shadow just isn't popular enough to attract a lot of attention.

I know nothing about Airsoft pistols. I have an SP01 Tactical and P01. I see the Shadow by ASG on Amazon for about $50. Is that the right model? And you need to purchase co2 magazines and plastic or mini paintball ammo, correct? Anything else?

Sorry, I can't help with airsoft. I tried a couple. One of them, I paid a lot of money for, and though the weight was right, it just was not accurate enough to provide meaningful training. The pellets are too light and the "hop up" system puts an unpredictable spin on the pellet. BB's are a little better, but they have a ricochet hazard, and aren't as accurate as pellets. If you are looking for effective training, I highly recommend a pellet gun. The only CZ pellet gun I know of is the ASG, CZ P-09 Duty. It is not perfect, but it is what is out there. It will shoot both pellets and BB's, but I don't recommend BB's as they will wear out the rifling in the barrel, reducing the accuracy for pellets. There used to be some pretty good "Witness" Tanfoglio/CZ pellet guns out there, but I think they have gone out of production.

Here in my locale in MD, the private property regs apply to bb and pellet firearms, and the one neighbor within 150 yds of the property would raise a stink. I understand the limitations but for less than $100 invested i can create practice stages and shoot plastic or paint without worrying about an apologetic Sheriff showing up for a firearm complaint...

Yikes! Serious limitations, sorry to hear. If you are stuck with airsoft, there is not much choice for CZ.

Bought it with an extra magazine, paintball bbs, and extra co2. Will have to see if it is worth the effort for practice...

Let us know if it has blowback action? Yes, airsoft blowback/recoil is not comparable with 9mm, but is better than nothing.

I purchased the non blowback option first to see if this would be something I'd use for practice since it was $50.  I ended up with biodegradable BBs, CO2 canisters, the air pistol replica of the Shadow and one magazine (there does not appear to be anyone selling extra mags for this variant, only the GBB version).

It's light since it's plastic and each shot has zero recoil although the sound is cool albeit fairly quiet.  I was impressed it went through some splatter targets at 5 yards, and will do a more thorough test when it's less windy.  I have no idea what 6mm paint bbs will work with this but I'd like to find some.

Was it worth the price of 10000 bbs ($29), the pack of 15 CO2 cartridges ($13), and the pistol ($50)?  Sure.  I will be able to work on holster draw (which reminds me, I need to see if it fits my SP-01 Tactical holsters), sight alignment and picture, shooting multiple targets quickly, let work, muzzle control, finger off the trigger control, yada yada.  How well that translates will likely be more or less the same as dryfiring, but the sound and the target splatter adds a bit of fun to it all...
