The force used to manually extract a round from the chamber is quite different from the forces encountered when the slide is cycled by rounds fired.  It may be that the extractor spring is just weak. The fix may be as simple as getting a new extractor spring... (I don't remember, but Wolff extra strength extractor springs MIGHT work in the AT-84s.)

Yes, the Wolff Extra Power Extractor Springs WILL work in the Swiss ITM AT84S!  You might wind up trimming a coil, but they will work.

I had the same problem with a used AT84s I purchased used. Broken ejector, I sourced several Tanfoglio sear cages and sent them along with the pistol to  Brian Ahearn at EFR,he modified one to fit and it functions great now.
I paid $200 for the pistol and I forget what Brian charged, but it was worth it to me!

Mike, did yours also have the problem of the hammer falling to half cock?

Okay,
I know that this is a very old thread. But I recently came into a very nice AT-84S that shoots very exceptionally. After 8-10 mags, I noticed that the magazine (I have two factory original mags) would drop out of the frame just enough to cause the slide to miss picking up the next round. Further checking revealed that the very slightest pressure on the mag release was all that was needed to do this.
So I checked the mag catch with the top end removed and the part that locks the mag in is only slightly visible in the mag well. While very slightly pushing in the mag button, from right to left, just a bit more protrudes into the well and the mag is fairly secure. So I pulled the release spring and “modified” it, allowing more pressure on the button, pushing it to the left. So far, so good.

All that said, should I be looking to CZ (original 75) or Tanfoglio for a backup mag catch and spring? Or any other parts for that matter? Thanks.

Tanfoglio parts should work, but may require some fitting, as this is an older Pistol.

Thanks for replying. I wasn’t sure if anyone would bother.
I was thinking Tanfoglio myself. That or Sphinx. I’ll try Tanfoglio first.

Thanks again!
