Does any one have any experiance here with the Smith 1076? It looks like it might be a good carry gun for me. I do not like small pistols and almost always have a vest, Jacket, or Coat on. I have read the recoil is not to bad but I would like to know how reliable it is with Hollow points.

I have owned a 1076 for about a year now. I have only carried it a few times CCW because the thing fully loaded is a brick and doesn't help my back much.

On the question of reliability, it has eaten everything I have fed it. I have shot Remington FMJ, American Eagle LRN, and Federal Hydra-Shock's through it without any problems. I now use Double Tap ammo loaded with Gold Dots and love them too. The nice thing about Double Taps is that they are loaded to the original 10mm loading instead of the "light" 10 mm loads that are loaded today.

Its a good solid gun.  I had one a few years back.  I much prefer the EAA Witness 10mm to the 1076, in terms of ergonomics.  (The S&W has a high bore axis and a lot of muzzle flip.)

If you can get one of a low price -- around $325 -- its worth considering, as it will hold its price pretty well.  Except for that, I'd get an EAA.

Thanks Walt. I do have a full sized EAA. I just thought the 1076 might be better suited for carry use. So would you recomend the EAA compact for carry instead?

Sorry, I don't have any experience with an EAA Compact.

I'd rather carry a full-size EAA than the 1076, which is a very big gun (but, narrower, perhaps.)
