The Romanian AK's are an excellent value.  They are rough around the edges, but that can all be fixed.  The finishes make some people grimace, but it's easy to throw a nice finish with some Duracoat or the like.  Hey, it's just an AK, not a collector's piece!

My Vepr .223 has had no problems at all. Mags are a little more but not that hard to find. It is accurate as well. If you just want a beater rifle though or a blank canvas to make a work of art the Romanians do OK. Mine goes bang every time but is not as near as accurate as my Vepr and after fixing the Romanian up and improving it I have almost as much as my Vepr in it but it was a blast to work on and a fun project.

Brasman - What modifications have you made to the Romanian to fix it up?  I'm guessing the Trigger would be the first thing.
