My new FNH purchases...
« on: October 06, 2005, 11:50:15 PM »
Picked up the gauge last thursday night in beautiful downtown Torrance, CA. It came with a C-More sight which I have been too busy to install yet. Fixed choke model (there is a screw-in model avail.).

Started the paperwork on the pistol yesterday. Several issues and four months after ordering it, the store finally had a serial number to get the ball rolling. Nine more days and I can pick it up.

Rick:
This is excellent news.  Congratulations.  They are fine weapons.  Its a shame that California is making you wait so long, but they are certainly worth the wait.  Please give us a complete range report on them.
Also,  I am very curious about the 5.7x28 ammunition and how the BATF is now treating the so called "LEO" vs. the "sporting rounds".,  I don't know what extra barriers CA has added to it?  What kind of obstacles have you faced with the ammo for the FN57?,  I know the FN57 is probably around $900, but what about the ammo $$?

Nice shotgun Electric eye. I would take that at my bedside before any rifle. Good choice.

Brian, the SS192 and SS195 loads are selling at 3x or 4x retail ($1+ a ROUND) due to the discontinued sale to anyone except LEO/Military. As far as I can tell, both loads are identical in velocity and are both legal to own in all states. The AP stuff is a no-no as is the IT load. The SS197 loads is supposed to be pretty hot but is not yet in stores to my knowledge. The SS196 is anemic compare to the other loads. 20 round mags are $30 each in the free states. The People's Republic of California requires a function test before DROS (load and unload the gun with a snap-cap). Turner's doesn't have snap caps yet so they cannot start the paperwork on the backordered 5.7's. Due to having a POST PC832 cert., I am exempt from the safety demonstration test and started the 11 day wait. I offered to bring in a live round and shoot it behind the store, but they didn't find it funny. I will pull a bullet and primer and drop off a homemade dewat this weekend so that the other civies can start their registrations.

The C-More is great too. It co-sights with the factory perfect. I did put an XS night site on the front blade and added a little surefire light for the heck of it. Enjoy!

The 5.7 is in my possession. :D  Picked it up thursday. Definitely not a normal auto, will post details after firing it. The shotgun has weird ergonomics but makes up for it in coolness factor. Finally found the time to put the C-More on it.

Congratulations Rick!!!, let us know how it performs, it is certainly a unique gun to say the least.  (the FN57) that is,  looking forward to a range report.

If any other FNH perverts exist here, they may want to check out the SS195 on gunbroker for $30 a box...
