Pro Package and HD
« on: February 17, 2018, 10:13:52 AM »
I have been very tempted to get the Pro package for my 75 B. This is primarily a range gun but also serves as my home defense in the unfortunate event it would be needed. I have been reading a lot about the users experiences with the Pro and from time to time I read that people would not be comfortable using it in HD. I thought I would ask for more input and thoughts. I really want to get the parts but it would still need to be a HD option. Let me know your thoughts.

I guess because the single action would be too light in a tense situation.

Pro Package and HD

Sometimes I think the Pro package, and Production legal package get confused. CGW says their Pro is ok for HD, whereas the Production legal is not.

That being said, some still won?t  use the Pro for HD for personal reasons. I fall into that category. I have the Pro package in my Tactical. It makes for a very nice shooting pistol. For me, and only me, I actually prefer the factory hammer for HD at this time. I prefer a little more ?resistance? (for lack of better word) to my trigger. My Tactical is just so smooth and sweet that I don?t trust its use in a high stress situation. Once  again this is only speaking for myself. It?s just a personal choice.

That?s why I have multiple CZ?s[emoji6][emoji16]
Give CGW a call, they?ll explain all the differences a lot better than I can[emoji6]

Thanks for your input. I know the best answer is to buy all the CZs but for the time being I can only afford the one. What are your thoughts on manually taking the hammer to the ?half cocked? position for your first shot?

I am a huge fan of decockers so it only makes sense that I like half cocked position on a gun. IMO it is the best of both worlds, it gets rid of having to turn off a safety prior to shooting

and it has the added weight of the trigger pull which I think helps prevent accidental shooting in a stress situation. Practice decocking your 75B to the point you feel comfortable then go to

the range and practice shooting it like that and I think you will like it. To also add to your first question why not get the defensive package instead of the pro one from CGW? I am hopefully

on the very short list to send in my RAMI in for the defensive package because that's all I feel comfortable doing to my gun that is for defensive use. I may be wrong in my interpretation but

the Pro package seems more for a range or competition gun and the Defensive package is for carrying and HD. I agree with everyone above that it's an individual choice hopefully based on

honesty of ones own ability and training plus their comfort level. Good luck with whatever you choose

This is my preferred way of decocking my SP-01 with safety. if you want to stop at the half cock then let off the trigger before moving your thumb.

The more and more I think about it, the decocker would have been the better choice but it will just have to wait unit my next one.

Thanks for the suggestion on the defensive package. That is probably the correct path for my usage. I think I owe CGW a call on Monday to hear from the pros about what they suggest.

I just ordered a pro package for my phantom and the 15# hammer spring in case the 13# makes single action too light.

Not sure that's going to have any affect. Remember in SA the hammer is already cocked, increasing the spring weight isn't going to change that. Increasing the spring weight would change the DA action.

If you're having light strikes in SA with the 13 then that might solve that issue.

A hammer spring does affect the trigger pull, a lighter spring takes less to disengage the sear from the hammer.....when cocked the hammer spring places a tension between the sear and hammer surfaces...SA is merely the end portion of a DA trigger pull.
