How difficult to install the defensive carry package?
« on: February 25, 2018, 11:53:51 AM »
I am looking into upgrades for my P-01, and it seems like the defensive carry package is a pretty good place to start. How difficult is this to install for someone with little to no gunsmiths experience, but plenty of patience? There seems to be some video and guides scattered around the internet for disassembling the 75 but I haven't found anything specifically for the P-01. Any tips, advice and suggestions are much appreciated.

This is the kit I am looking at:

Thanks,

Patience goes a long way but personally I would leave the 75 trigger upgrades to CZC or CGW.  The Omega trigger upgrade is a better place to start with lower experience level.  Just my opinion.

I just did my phantom pro package and have done both of my p09 and p07 upgrades. I am a self proclaimed gunsmith but new to cz's. The online tutorials on here are plenty good to do the work yourself. If you can use a polishing wheel on a dremel tool and keep small springs and parts from flying across the room into the great abyss of lost left socks then you should be able to do the work yourself. The omega system is way easier to work with as the 75 series sear cage was a little frustrating for me and makes your fingertips sore after awhile pushing on small parts.

Keep your exploded view of parts in the manual handy as it helps on part orientation.

Thanks,

It really isn't that difficult to do. I just did my first one last week. Follow the great write ups on this board and it should go pretty well.

Does anyone know of any guides for a decocker model? I see a few for the 75B.

If you use the search in the gunsmithing section you?ll find quite a few decocker threads. They can all be used across all the decocker models.

Here?s a good read with pics.

And forum member Tdogg has made a few videos on the Rami BD. (Same internals as your P01)

Check out videos from this guy on the SP01 Tactical polishing and CGW upgrades.  The tactical is also a decocker model and has the same internals as the P01.

I recommend getting the starter punch, slave pin, and a few extra sear cage springs from CGWs.  It will make things easier :-).  Good luck!

I cut a qtip shaft to length for a slave pin. Don't use generic qtips as those are flimsy. Was in a pinch and worked great.

Pretty easy. I find the standard 75 easier to install than an Omega. That said, the first day I got my CZ, I swapped out the barrel bushing and polished the internals. It was my first gun.

The resources here are plentiful, and people here are happy to help. Just take your time and work in a CLEAN area.

One more question. What is the part on the far right hand side of the product picture? Hope it isn't something that involves me having to take that sear cage apart.

The sear cage will have to come apart to replace the lifter arm and spring. Sometimes you can just slide the slave pin over and do it. Once you have to put the sear together a few times, it?s really not that bad. And you learn a whole new vocabulary while doing it. [emoji23][emoji23]
