What range/distance do you zero your scorp?
« on: March 02, 2018, 10:33:58 AM »
OK I am an AR/AK/FAL guy and am good to go with all the different takes on zeroing those calibers.  I like the 50/200 zero w/ .223.  In that case the round is on target at both 50 & 200 yards as the bullet rises and falls.

My question:  Is there a similar range combo the little 9mm?   I have the carbine version.

Thanks

I zeroed at 25 yards, according to federals ballistic calculator I?m 6? low at 100 but in reality it seems like I?m fairly dead on and I have about an 10? holdover at 150.  By the time I get to 200 it?s ~40? drop though and your fighting even the lightest breeze.  I guesstimated those drops based off of where I was holding in relation to known distance and dimensions on the target stand so they?re not 100% accurate but should be close

ETA: has sight height wrong, sight height was for a handgun and not scorpion, one put in appropriate height the numbers are more in line with my experience

Hmmm....good question. Don't have my EVO yet, am planning on putting a Holosun  RD on it. I go to the whole philosophy of use, I see the gun for my purposes, it is a 75 yd and closer defensive range weapon. I'm planning to zero for 25 yds, will also have a light/laser combo also set at 25.

Mine just arrived yesterday.
Did the trigger job immediately.
Ammo testing begins tomorrow.
I plan to zero at 50.
This gun's primary mission is PCC and 3-gun matches.

Depends on the scorpion, my k version is zeroed at 10 yds, my full size pistol with suppressor is zeroed 25 yds and my RDS has BDC out to 150.

Of course, bullet weight is going to be a big factor.

I'm using 115grain JHP with a measured muzzle velocity of 1250fps (box lists it as 1100 from 5" barrel). I zeroed at 50, mainly because the range I was using was set up for that, and it should give a first zero at 30yards, second at 50, with +.1 at 40yards.

I'll probably re-zero at 25 in the future, which should put impact within 1" from 10yards to about 75yards. This is probably better for PCC, since most targets aren't going to be much further away than 25yards.

This stuff is practically tailor made to the scorpion, 1300fps out of the standard pistol and I can tell you it hits hard on steel

66 feet.

That's the depth of our 3 Action Pistol bays that I use my Scorpion for 3-Gun.

I zero'd to 25 yards because its used for steel challenge, and the steel is at 15-35 yards...

I zeroed my Scorpion pistol in at 10 yards with 124gr +P ammo. At 25 yards I was about 3-4" high with tight groups, and at 50 yards I was about 10" high with my rounds a couple inches apart. I am using a Primary Arms red dot which is not magnified. I may play around with my zero a little when the weather warms up, but for now its good since I never intended for it to be a long range weapon.

25 yards is ideal for 9mm pcc. this means you will be about dead on at 100 yards, but you will probably never engage at that distance with a 9mm pcc.

I zero'd at 25 feet. Being a personal defense weapon, that's actually a bit further than this thing will ever be fired at an actual person.

I zeroed mine at 25 yards. I put a red dot and magnifier on it too. Then I took them off. I prefer the iron sights on it. I'm not going to shoot it at distance. I also put a laser/flashlight rig underneath. I am keeping those on. Cause it looks like Halo and they are useful
