CGW Striker... yes or no?
« on: March 03, 2018, 06:04:10 PM »
I?m typically not big on putting aftermarket parts in pistols I may need for SD, but the upcoming CGW trigger is really calling me. Planning to get that and a T block(since everything will be apart anyway).

Question is, how much benefit is there to the tool steel striker? Haven?t really had any complaint as far as gritty pull, but did see where a couple of P-10?s have had the striker break off.  But that?s only happened on a very few, right? Trying to decide if I want to go ahead and get one of those too while I?m spending all my money.

I'm kinda with you.

I'm debating whether to keep the P-10C. I recognize how it's a better design than the Glock 19 (ergos, shootability) but Glocks are like fleas - they're every-danged-where with tremendous support so... not sure what I gain from a TOTAL LIFE OF OWNERSHIP perspective.

I'm interested in CGW's parts and how they function, however.

From what I?ve heard the CGW striker can smooth out the trigger pull a bit, besides being more durable and reliable.

Yes I installed a CGW tool steel striker in my P-10. The only issue I had with my P-10 was the tip of the stock striker breaking off and while CZ-USA immediately mailed me another one, I still decided to by one from CGW for peace of mind. The main difference is the stock striker is a MIM part and CGW's is tool steel. Much more reliable. As far as Glocks are concerned, you can have them. Its CZP-10C all the way for me.

The MIM process creates a "porous" surface finish on many parts, imparting a "grainy" texture.  This texture can make the trigger pull stiffer and creepier than desirable.  The tool steel striker has a better finish, responds well to polishing, and should improve the trigger pull by simply dropping it in.  Reliability of the CGW tool striker has been 100% to date.

One of the first complaints we had on the P-10-C was broken MIM strikers.  Is it chronic - no, but Glocks have done the same thing with their MIM strikers for years.

Consider this: I've dealt with lots of different aftermarket upgrade/parts makers in dozens of guns. Cajun Gun Works is at the very top of the list of Aftermarket suppliers that I KNOW I can trust.

Yes, there are a lot of aftermarket upgrade parts for Glock. Most of them are in my Glock 17 right now which has been shoved to the back of my safe because CZ's, Canniks and Bersa's have taken its place in the front of the safe.

Too bad CGW doesn't make parts for Glocks!

So, benhar and Mjolnar: Get off the fence and go Cajun. The more CGW you put in and see what they do--the more CGW upgrades you want. Save yourself some time and trouble and just put as many CGW parts in as Schmeky (David at CGW) recommends.

You will have one regret--that you didn't do it sooner.

See now y?all are just being bad influences [emoji4]

I?ll probably end up getting the striker. As said earlier in the thread, I?ll at least have peace of mind about the striker tip. Thanks all for the input.

I'm sure it's a quality part and I understand the P10 market is small, but am I the only one who thinks these are a little expensive? I'd love to have one, but at nearly $50 before shipping I find that kinda hard to swallow. I know some here bought it for peace of mind, while others bought it because of failed strikers.

Not really - I have guns that have had Cajun Magic worked on them, and the parts they make are really worth every penny.

Yes. $50 for a 100% billet machined part made with US labor and material, then heat treated? Please. You can?t compare that to a $25 MIM striker...

I mean glock has a huge market, this we can all agree on.
Getting a steel firing pin for a glock you are looking at about $44 (lower end price scale from say Lone Wolf)  or $90 (zev skelotenized striker)  and right in the middleish..... $70 for a Suarez international .

So yes you are correct how dare CGW offer one for $50 to such a small market after all the R&D

Sorry just having fun incase that comes off dickish.

But honestly we all know CZ parts are 1 of 2 things, stock and not that expensive  or   aftermarket and on par with competing guns that take up a larger spot in the market and have a larger aftermarket calliing

I just completed my P07 Pro Grade kit upgrade and have the HBi trigger and Gray Guns guide rod and spring in my P10c.  I'll wait just a bit to do the striker, LOL, but it will happen.
