Lights, Lasers and Red Dots - what this is all about.
« on: March 04, 2018, 04:09:49 PM »
This thread is an experiment... Several users have asked for this and, well, we'll see how it goes ;-)

Posts here should pertain to handheld or wepaon-mounted lights, lasers and Red Dot sighting systems (pistol or long gun.) For now I see no reason to exclude scopes from the discussion and we can also fold in any other electronic accessories that are relevant. (I'm thinking training aids like Laserlyte and the MantisX, etc)

I will, as time permits, move threads from elsewhere that have a better home here. If anyone sees something particularly relevant, feel freee to PM me a link to the thread for consideration. Everyone helping makes my job that much easier :-D

In one way I am surprised there are no posts on this topic on the other hand this year we have first time buyers. I purchased a CZ P10 Full as my first gun and am happy with the purchase. However, I am bombarded with needing a gunsmith to add a red dot and  or getting a laser or flashlight attachment. Is it necessary or am I well equipped with what I have without accessories for home or self defense. I am training on the range every other week.

I have thought about a laser/light combo that will work on both my P-07 and my Springfield XDe.  I know I want a rechargeable unit, red or green laser does not matter to me, at least 300 lumens ( i know..."that ain't Shix!!") light and as for a strobe...why not!  Problem is I'm cheap....because I have never seen the need for a laser or a light.  I am smart enough to know the .."you get what you pay for" really applies to a laser....but I just want to find a cheaper one that is good enough to make me decide if I want to spend a boat load for a good one.   I have discovered a pawn shop, at least here in the north/central Florida area is not where I will find one.  Any suggestions?

Sorry for the late reply but it sounds like a Baldr mini is the way to go. Rechargeable, inexpensive and has a quoted 600 lumens burst time for 1 min.

I've got a Baldr Mini on my P07, and happy so far. It's maintaining zero with Hornady Critical Duty +P . It does not have a strobe function and the only complaint I have is that the Low battery indicator is dim. Operating time is OK, but I intentionally ran it down and noticed that. Might just be my unit, and I can live with it as is.
I've also had it mounted to a Mossberg 590 shooting 00 buck without a problem so far, although I suspect that could prove fatal over time and I'm hesitant to try it with slugs !
