Does anyone know the grip width of a Ruger P-89?  I heard they are pretty thick.  But they don't look too thick from what I've seen.  I haven't had a chance to hold one yet.  They seem to have a good reputation for reliability.  The price is nice too. :D

For a Hi-Cap 9mm, the grip is quite reasonable in size and flat fitting with the profile of the frame.  Very reliable, and sturdy.  The only thing I do not like about them is the magazine latch, which is slow to use and sometimes very stiff.  Don't own one, but I've shot plenty of them.

Thats good to hear.  Why do I hear so much about how big it is?  How wide is it compared to the CZ?  What do you think about it compared to the CZ 75B as far as everything goes?  I know it wont match the CZ in the accuracy department but what can I expect at 25 yards or so?

I paid $379NIB for the new P8915 high cap version that comes with two 15 cap mags.  Its one of my favorite pistols, very ergonomic and accurate.  I love the trigger on it.  I very highly recommend this pistol.  As accurate as any CZ75.  , I actually like the trigger on the Ruger a bit better.

Fat handle, very long trigger pull seemed to be the consensus on these. Gun Tests said the sample it tested featured accuracy that ranged from "quite good to terrible" close in, with 6" groups the norm at 25 yards.

The P-85 I shot for awhile had a blocky grip and a horrendous trigger.

Except for price, I would consider these guns inferior to CZ 75's in every way.

The only way to really know if the pistol will fit YOUR hand is to go to a Gunshop and handle one.  Accuracy has been 3 to 4 inches at 25 yards on average, with commercial 124 grn FMJ. I also do not like the DA pull on these.

I've owned two.  Both were ultra-reliable (they shot everything), but both were horrible in accuracy terms.  This was in the early 90's.  Maybe their accuracy-quality has gone up since then.  I would definitely try one again if given a good enough deal.

Unfortunately, Nope!  I think that the barrel internal dimensions vary from one to another.  A match barrel might improve them but it should not be necessary.

It's worth noting that CDNN's current catalog lists a couple of Ruger autos on clearance (the P97 (plastic .45) and and P94 (alloy 9)).
