Marlin Model 60, cleaning advice needed
« on: August 01, 2005, 09:25:27 PM »
Hi, All

I have just acquired a 1980 built Marlin Model 60 .22LR. It is in mint condition with probably only a few hundred rounds fired at most. It has sat idle for at least 16 years and needs a good clean and lube job. My only problem is that I do not have a manual and I see from the net that these rifles can be tricky if disassembled too far.

I desperately need advice on cleaning this weapon.

TIA

Steve

The Model 60 is still in production.  You should be able to get a manual from Marlin...  You could also consider having a local gunsmith clean it for you, including a detail strip.

The following is form the Marlin website.

1. Q) What is Marlin's address and telephone number?

For Mail:
     Marlin Service
     P.O. Box 248

For Product Returns:
     MFC

     North Haven, CT 06473
     Telephone Number for Service: 800-544-8892

For the Marlin Model 60 Online manual, see link below.
If you have a printer, you may wish to print it out.

I have downloaded the online manual and also contacted Marlin. They are sending me the appropriate manual. Apparently, my rifle was built in 1980 and is the older type. Whether I will need the feedramp upgrade will remain to be seen.

Thanks again
