Plans for my P-10C
« on: March 10, 2018, 05:03:26 PM »
This is no more premature than a CGW new parts-in-the-works posting, so here goes... :) :)

I shot my P-09 in many bullseye matches before going to my superb CGW 97B"E", which is the ultimate .45 bullseye match gun in my opinion.  When I got my P-07, it shot so well that I took a red dot off my 75B slide and mounted it on the P-07, shot it a few times in practice, then shot it in one local bullseye match.  I had high score with the plastic JB-Weld and Sugru (one time only) match gun.  Then I took the red dot off and put the P-07 back in a Crossbreed carry holster where it has been ever since.

I am intrigued with the P-10C.  Now that CGW really does have some parts available, and red dots are becoming common even on carry guns, I decided to have CGW cut my slide for my fourth Burris Fast Fire 3 3 moa red dot and put their trigger etc, in my one and only P-10C.  If it shoots as well as the P-07, I'll use it in a bullseye match in March or April.  Or May.  Whenever I get it back and have some time to adjust the Sugru and the red dot.  If my usual can plinker bullseye buddies show up for the local matches, I am thinking I can win another bullseye match with my third polymer gun, first striker fired polymer 9mm gun.

If I can't win a bullseye match with the CGW striker gun, maybe I can get a few good 100 or 200 yard targets with it.  That would be pretty cool, too.

I wouldn't be so optimistic if I hadn't had and continue to have such good results with the P-07 4" barrel gun.  P-10C should match it, repeatability wise.

No pressure, Schmeky.   :) :)

Now that is a throw down challenge, LOL.  Good luck and hope it works out.

Joe, I haven't had the chance to lay hands on a P-10C yet, but for some reason I bought a very similar type of pistol a week ago--a Canik TP9SF Elite. Today I had the priviledge of shooting with a Firearms Instructor for DCIS. He was impressed by the Canik Elite, but he liked my CZ P-07 the best. He not only has good taste in firearms, but he could shoot them all pretty well too. I think I'm going back again for some more lessons.

This Canik TP9SF Elite is one of the best firearm purchases I've made since I bought the P-07. I can't find anything about it I don't like. The sights are from Warren Tactical and they are different--U-shaped rear and fiber-optic front. Anyway it shoots itty-bitty groups so far.
The trigger now breaks at just under 3 lbs. All I did was polish the FP Block Plunger and put in a lighter spring.

If you haven't shot a Canik TP9SF yet, I sure would like to hear what you think about it when you do.

That sounds interesting, FakeCZName.  If I ever come across one, I'll ask to shoot it.

I have the TP9SF full size.  I kept reading reviews and no one had a bad thing to say about them (except the obvious gun snobs), so I found a great deal on one on Gunbrokers.  They are very good shooters with great factory triggers and I got mine for under $300 new.

But, I still love shooting my P-07 and my P10c with upgrades more.  Not much available for the Canik.

LOL, It is really a good gun, but not many upgrade options.  Gonna put a 6lb Glock striker spring in it.  Supposed to be a really overpowered factory spring.  The CZ
p-07/09 reduced power blocker spring is supposed to be a perfect fit for it also.

I have a buddy that loves the Caniks enough that he bought a second when he found another available.  I've shot them and they are great pistols.  There are some clones of CZs that have improvements that I wish CZ would make, such as the elimination of the whole staked mag release spring screw.  I ended up moving away from the CZ clones mainly because of the use of roll pins in places where CZ uses solid pins.  I don't know if that concern really applies to the striker fired guns though, as the CZ has a bunch of roll pins itself.  How's the holster selection on those?  That's always been another issue on some of the clones for me such as the K2.  Loved the SAR K2 except for the use of roll pins and the lack of good holsters to carry it.

I have never carried the Canik so never tried to get a holster for it.  It's a range gun for me.

Finally had a chance to handle a Canik at my local gun shop. It was Coyote Brown and seemed like a really nice gun plus it was only $378.

I?ve got a TP9SA and SF. Got both at different times for under $300. Hard to beat at that price. I picked up the elite mentioned earlier in the thread and sold it. I do love my Caniks but I did not care for the Warren tactical sights and the elite felt much more top heavy than my P10C.  Full-size Caniks are great range guns but for me the P10C carries much better than the Canik elite. I also love the 18 round Mecgar mags are readily available for $25. Canik holsters  seem to be becoming more available just like ones for the P10C. David

This^^. I really like the SF Elite for the money, but the slide is pretty tall and hefty. It shoots fine and is pretty reliable from what I've seen, but I much prefer the ergos and trigger on my P10C.

I've been extremely impressed with my TP9SF Elite.  Best firearm purchase I ever made at ~$375.  I like the ergos of my P10c better, but the trigger on the Elite is awesome.

Put the Glock extra power 6lb Striker Spring and the CZ reduced power blocker spring in my TP9sf.  Trigger is even better.  Went to the range and shot lights out!

I'm not surprised. I put in a lighter FP Block plunger spring and my trigger pull is crisp and less than 3 lbs! Shot it at 25 yards a few days ago [along  with my newest Canik C-100 (CZ 75 Compact clone)] and I was getting very good hits with the Warren Tactical U-shaped rear and Fiber Optic front sight. Canik Elite rocks!
