in-sight on sight removing
« on: June 18, 2005, 09:03:51 AM »
I need help on removing the rear plastic sights on a Glock 26, and replace it with Big Dot Express. Ive done the front sight, it was easy. Ive tried to tap the rear sight out using a punch & hammer it but didnt move. Are the plastic sights glued in or just pressure fit? If i hammer to hard iam afraid i will ruin the sight and still not be able to completely remove it from the slide, and i will be stuck with a mangled rear sight or worse ill do some damage to the slide or internal parts. I know this sounds like a simple project, but it is a stubborn little bugger and this is my first attempt at this.

             THANKS

The Glock sights I've worked with were all pressure fit, but I used a sight pusher.  It may be that the polymer materials are just more "forgiving" when struck with a punch...

A sight pushed doesn't mangle the sights.

Walt;  thanks for the reply & info. Everything worked out great, not to mention the EXPRESS sights look real nice on the Glock 26. Next is the gun range to see if target acquistion is improved.

                        thanks again
