Ultra Lite + Resuced power TRS for Shadow 2
« on: March 20, 2018, 06:19:48 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I got both from CGW and had them installed myself - Fairly easy job.  As I had it all open, I also did some polishing and the final result was an amazing under 2lb SA, and about 5lb DA trigger, smooth as smooth can be!  So I couldn't happier with the CGW parts, and their customer service/support is equally great!

I was wondering if there would be a lot of interest if I put together a video of installing it all?  I looked for it before I worked on my gun and couldn't find anything on video about it.  So wondering if it's something worth doing... When I have a break here I can "undo" the installation or the parts and get it done again on video, if y'all believe it would be worth doing it.

Let me know.

Tnks,
Marcelo.

For sure Marcelo.  I, for one, am always up for learning new things about the CZ pistols!  I say, go for it.

Absolutely, I always appreciate videos.  They definitely help a rookie tinkerer like myself.

It's what I thought - As soon as I have a break here over the weekend and I will get it done and update this post with it.

Wow, those are some insane trigger pulls. What spring weight are you using to get 5 lb DA?

The 5# DA is definitely do-able.  The problem for me was the SA is too light for my uses.  Getting the SA up close to 3# is much harder to do without losing that great 5# DA. :-\

The Ultra Lite kit comes with both main springs 8.5# and 11.5#.  I had the 11.5# installed as the reloads I have now are using Winschester primers (not Federal as I would need for the 8.5# spring).   It wasn't just the main spring though - I also changed the TRS to a reduced power one and did some polishing on the trigger bar and frame where both touch each other.

True - the SA is almost too light now to be honest, but I've tested in a couple matches and I'm happy with it.   The only thing I have pending to do is to shorten the reset, which I'm waiting CGW to come up with a new model they told me is about to be released, that will be like the one they have that requires some fitting, however already pre-fitted to a Shadow 2, so most likely like a drop-in part...

I too got used to the light SA pull.  I use the 8# mainspring and at first the lighter trigger spring.  This combo made the feel of the trigger reset pretty light,  so I put the stock trigger spring back in and that improved the "feel" and added a skosh to the SA pull.
Those in the know say increasing the sear spring weight will also increase the SA pull weight (only) just a skosh more.  Skosh means just a little as all pistols may get different results....maybe 2 ounces? :)

I'm not using the 8# as I'm reloading yet and the ammo I'm buying is loaded with Winchester primers... So just to be safe, I'm with the 11.5# one.  But as soon as I start reloading (which should happen soon, budget permitting to buy a reloading setup) I will work with Federal primers and will surely give it a shot with the 8# one.
