Kadet kits 1 and 2 availablity and value?
« on: March 24, 2018, 10:09:52 PM »
I see the Kadet 2 kits are not available from CZ at this time.  Anyone know, is this a supply issue or something else?

IMHO, the newer kits seem cheaper in both price and construction.

What is the value of the original Kadet kits?  They work perfectly fine with the orginal CZ75?  So are they still desirble?

Usually a supply issue.  Not that they are not desirable.  I think the quality is the same for the Kadet 1 & 2 kits.  The kits for the P-series pistols look cheaply made compared to the 75 series kits.

CZ-USA receives shipments from CZ-UB by the container load. No one knows when things will arrive, and even if they do things can get delayed in customs.

The Kadet 2 has always been very popular and goes out of stock quickly. When they are available they're priced better at places like Bud's and Whittaker Guns than at CZ.

Your original Kadet kit should be worth the same as a Kadet 2 to someone that has a pistol it will fit. I wouldn't sell one for less just because it won't fit an Omega gun.

I ordered the kadet gen 2 kit for my CZ75BD from sonsoflibertygunworks.com two days ago, because they were the only retailer I could find that showed in stock (their website said 83 in stock at the time of purchase).  The next day I got a call from them saying that their website hadn't been updating and they reached out to their distributor who said that the kadet kits were being discontinued.

I have an e-mail in to cz-usa customer service, so hopefully that will clear things up and they are just on backorder...

Just bought my CZ75BD and am loving it, but would love to have the kadet kit to go along with it!

The way the kits sell, I'd be truly surprised if they were being discontinued. That would be like CZ throwing money away.

The only Kadet listed as discontinued on the CZ site is the full pistol. I highly doubt the Kadet kit is discontinued.

What do the full dedicated Kadet pistols (in .22lr) sell for these days?  Never see then anymore.

The Kadet kit is not on the list of products discontinued for 2018 that I was provided in late 2017.

For an SP-01, the advice I was given from CS at CZ-USA, was that I could order the 1610 version form them directly or find them in the market. However, the new 1612 version was being shipped to their preferred dealers for now and later on they will be available directly or more generally on the market. That transition to generally available isn?t expected to happen till the 4th quarter or so.

As a result, I got mine from Ghost. You do have to dig a little to find the 1612 version. Many folks you get on the phone don?t even realize there is a difference between the 1610 and the 1612, but I find the differences to be significant.

When I get home, I will plan for an break in and accuracy test of the 1612 to determine if it runs as good as the 1610 versions.

What's the difference?

01612 is listed on the CZ website.

Edit...found it at CZ Custom as 91612.

It's a totally different design.

For those of us nomenclature numerically challenged types, the SKU 01610 from CZ-USA is the CZ 75 Kadet 2 kit that?s been around for a while. The SKU 91612 from the CZ Custom website is for the recently released CZ 75 SP-01 Kadet kit specifically designed for the Shadow series frames.

Also note that the weight difference would suggest a design that has more in common with the P07 and P09 Kadets as it is listed as weighing .28 kg compared to .48 kg for the Kadet II. While the profile may be more in line with the SP01, if weight and typical balance are important then the lighter weight upper will affect that some. Only the market can decide if it'll be popular or not. Personally I really appreciate that switching to 22lr doesn't make my 75 feel like it should have an orange muzzle thingy.

I have spoken with CZ USA web store and they have new kadets in but they are currently in quality control I was told.  Keep checking the website they will be in stock soon!  I was able to pick one up today from fountain firearms here in Houston.  I was told they have one more kadet 2 kit in stock now. It is the 01610 model.

The 1610 is the previous model, and the 1612 is the new one.

I just got home from my first range session with the 1612 and I am hooked.

It ate everything I fed it. It ran and grouped well even with cheap ammo. Can't say enough good about it.

It may not be at target competition grade accuracy, but comes very close.

The new style polymer magazines were easy to load because they now have an external follower button similar to Ruger or S&W.

I can recommend this as a good teaching tool for introducing folks to a SP-01 operation before graduation to 9mm.

Do you know if they are normally (when in stock) available direct from them on their webstore?  A search on their site doesn't seem to find anything (not even listing out of stock).

Can (should?) you use the 01612 on a CZ75BD though?  If it's for the newer shadow frames, I'm not sure.

I have the 75BD and just want a kadet kit for that.
