don't do this with your P10C
« on: March 26, 2018, 12:11:38 PM »
I recently ordered the CGW striker. Nothing was wrong with the factory one, I just did it for the upgrade and to have a spare. So I take the slide off, got the endplate slid off and replaced the striker no problem. Now I'm excited to see if maybe there is a slight improvement on the factory trigger. Not that it wasn't already good. So I put the slide on and rack it. Wow, that was different. Something isn't right. In my excitement I didn't install the barrel and recoil spring before putting the slide back on. Now I had to fool around for a while to get the slide back off. I'm still not sure what I did to get it back off but it was a pain to do. I won't do that twice.

That's funny because I did the exact same thing when I replaced my striker with the CGW one.

We all have probably done it at one time or another.  Fun ain't it, LOL

How did you forget to replace the barrel and recoil spring?  Shouldn't you have noticed the lack of spring tension?

I honestly can say that is one I have never done, out of a long list of oopsies in life. Important safety tip - don't cross the streams/forget the barrel and recoil spring.

A friend reassembled my G16 for me without the rod+spring as a joke. Wouldn't rack, so I did a tap-rack with some force.
Not a cool prank to play.
