Installed CGW Pro Package in my 75B SA
« on: April 18, 2018, 12:49:35 AM »
Bought my first CZ a few months ago.  I was undecided about weather I wanted the SA or the DA/SA. When I finally decided that the DA/SA was just more versatile I went to buy it and the gun shop sold it the day before I got there. So I decided to get the SA they still had and I am glad I did. Thanks to a post from Rhino I decided to put the CGW Pro Package in the gun and turn it into a DA/SA with upturned dove tail and ambidextrous safety.  So this is kinda like having the best of both guns. I am very happy with the results and it only took me a few evenings to do all the work. (Could have done it in 2 easy evenings if I would have purchased a new main spring strut as Rhino had suggested.) The main spring strut pin on the SA is staked on both sides and is very difficult to get out. Had I just bought one for I think $11.00 it would have saved me 4 hours and a couple roll pin punches which I bent.

The gun shoots great. The trigger is amazing in single action which is what I shoot all the time. (I only shoot double action with snap caps in it once in a while) I feel like I have the best of both worlds.
Thanks Rhino, for all the advise, parts list, and help.

CGW sells a "starter" punch that is hardened.  Just for getting those stubborn pins "started" moving out of the hammer (or other places where they're severely stuck in place.)  Get it moving (sort of looks like a center punch, so it should be pretty tough vs. the standard skinny shafted punches of varying diameters/lengths) and then switch to the standard punch to finish removing it.

My youngest son has a CZ75 SA.  We go to the range and I can hardly get him to shoot the P07 he carries.  He just keeps shooting the SA because, "But dad, I just get a kick out of shooting small groups."

I've not yet had trouble getting those pins out.  I did have trouble getting one back in.  Got close, just mushroomed the end I was pressing/pounding and finally gave up and filed/stoned the remaining end flat with the side of the hammer.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

The p07 will make small groups as well

That's a nice way of getting an upswept beavertail on a full size.

I may do the same thing in the future though I'm not sure I like the rail on the slide going all the way to the front.
