OWB Carry for CC
« on: April 26, 2018, 09:14:47 PM »
How many of you guys carry OWB during the day?  What holsters are you running?  My initial thought was as long as the cover garment did a decent job, it's a non-issue.  I've since listened to a few podcasts and read a few things that make it seem like blasphemy.  I was just curious on everyone's thoughts over here.

FWIW, I have a few OWB holsters and still think it's a non-issue when dressed appropriately with good retention holsters etc...

Carry on!

I carry OWB primarily due to comfort. Perhaps if I was 30lbs lighter, I could IWB comfortably.

That said, I?ve been happy with my Privateer Leather holsters. Good fit, customer service, turn around time and customer service.  When I go plastic, I?ve had good luck with Krounds.

Good luck

I carry a full sized 1911 OWB during the cold months with a Tucker HF1. I don't like a cover garment during hot weather so I have an IWB Sparks Criterion for my full sized 1911.

I have a Sparks VM2 and a TT Gunleather High Ride Snap Removable Holster ordered for my recently purchased PCR.

OWB is more comfortable to me. Except in hot weather.

I'll second the appreciation for Privateer Leather....top quality-very comfortable-great retention-easy on/off + I can move it around a little on the belt with 1 hand. Wes made mine for a PCR.
Also, in a Kydex have a Fist K2 for my Glock 43....best OWB Kydex I've ever had !!

I have concerns about how well hidden my CZ is when IWB carrying.  I have never tried to carry OWB concealed.  Well, not since my mid 20's when I was carrying a Colt Combat Commander in a Roger's Pancake Holster (hi-rise, forward cant, thumb break, black) but that was only in the winter/cold months when a coat would cover it (or so I thought, till that town cop followed me around in a Murphy's store all evening that time.)

I ran across that old holster a few weeks ago.  I need to see if it fits the P07 or P09 and see how well it conceals under a shirt.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Probably like most I have acquired versions of holsters over the years that occupy a special crate in my home for orphan holsters, all in an attempt to find "the one".   Cross breeds IWB, Galco, on and on.   I carry OWB these days using the Versacarry tm leather protector series leather jackslide based in Bryan TX.    I wet form the holster to the specific firearm and bone it in.  Minimalist approach that securely holds the firearm and hugs it in to the body.  It kind of blows my mind that I have spent so much on quality leather rigs and robust holsters and on and on only to land on this minimalist carry item.  But in the end....it works very well for me and better than the rest.  Other mode of carry is using the Air Marshal kangaroo carry system made here in Houston by former LE HPD officer.  Great for when you want to carry with your shirt tucked in.  My 2 cents.

I use a Sneaky Pete with a small medical symbol on it.  No problems with OWB.

M&P shield 9mm in a StealthGear "Flex"
rides up nice and tight against your side , I carry like this all the time
and a long untucked shirt is plenty of cover as long as it's not skin tight around my waist
make it criminal to own a gun and only criminals will own them

I never got comfortable with iwb and found few shoulder rigs that worked out. These days it's owb at 3:30-4:30 in a pancake style holster. I have one for my PCR/75B compact,Sig 229 and and 1911 all of which I can carry comfortably.

I wear a leather Craft Holster at 4 o'clock with my P-01 in the gun shop. Its nice and close to the body, and hardly notice its there standing and sitting, or banging around in the stock area.

Put a tongue of leather on the inside to guard against the pistol to the body side and I might play.  Nah....  The Versacarry ? protector series does that already and costs half as much.   But it's a beautiful holster that is shown in your link.  I'm a sucker for beautiful leather goods, wood stocks and steel Firearms.  Have all the aternatives to the last statement.  But I'm a sucker none the less.

I rarely carry IWB. In Texas we do not have to be worried about the dreaded ?printing? problems.
