I heard back from CGW.  They said that they couldn't be 100% sure that it will fit, since they haven't seen one of these barrels, but they're pretty sure it will work.  When asked if they could fit the barrel, if needed, they said I could send just the barrel and slide to them (i.e. no FFL transfers required).

Bar Sto threaded barrel. A little fitting needed at the rear. Make sure if fits into bushing.

Did anyone ever find a good lead on a nice 97 comp? I asked for some quotes but I have yet to see a purpose-built 97 comp.

This just delivered by USPS.

My first impression is that this is a very high quality threaded barrel.  It is machined beautifully with no flaws.

I'll install it later today.

Build with brick or 2x4? Why not both?

The threaded barrel fits through the bushing just fine.  However, when under spring pressure the slide gets jammed up about a 1/4" before returning to battery.  Something is off on the geometry of the barrel and it seems to get hung up in the bushing.  Have to figure out what doesn't fit quite correctly.

Nice!  How does it work?  You still have the factory barrel bushing, did you have to fit the barrel?

Finally, got it figured out.  The top front lug needed to be fitted so it slipped past the top lip of the slide.  Now it works properly.  Still have to polish it for smoothness and then test fire it.  Swapping back to the plastic spring guide rod made it much easier to install the spring.

Test shots with the new threaded barrel went very well!  Here are the first 20.  10 FMJ (1st shot went high and just left) and 10 hollow points.  Pleasantly suprised how well POA and POI matched the existing sight set up!

I am pleased, thank you Barsto.

Here are the next 20 shots Federal JHP's at 10 yds.  All the ammo fed perfectly.
