P01 TFX Front Sight Removal
« on: June 06, 2018, 10:29:46 PM »
Hey there! I have the TruGlo TFX sights for my CZ P01. I got the rears off with no trouble, but the front is being a bear to remove. I punched out the roll pin already, but the sight won't tap out with a nylon punch and a mallet. I've hit it decently hard, but am afraid to go all out or switch to a hammer, for fear of cracking the tritium vial. Is there anything I can do to safely remove the front sight? I don't see any set screws or anything else that might be impeding it.

First, can you see thru the hole where the roll pin goes? If not you have to more work to do.  ( You may have to remove the barrel bushing). If not,  place tape at the junction where the sight contacts the slide below the rear of vial. Secure a piece of aluminum bar in a vice or fasten it to a sturdy work table and place the slide in a verticle position so the sight is in contact with the aluminum bar WITH MOST OF THE SLIDE BELOW THE ALUMINUM BAR,  protect the muzzle end of the slide and use your mallet and try to carefully tap the sight out. Warning...this will cause damage to the front sight in my opinion and probably making it unuseable !!!!!!!! SO PROCEDE AT YOUR OWN RISK.......

A gunsmith got it out. I just didn't have a vice or a brass drifter. The nylon drifter and my bare hands were not allowing enough force to hit the sight.
