Vzor 50/70 magazine "cures"?

I just added a Vzor 50 to the collection.

First trip to the range...8 rounds into the magazine they get "stuck".

Getting it home, I have to use a screw driver to "wedge" the top ones out.

Comparing it to the TWO (2) magazines that I have for my Vzor 70, I began loading each and then testing whether I can push them out with my thumb.

The results:

1st Vzor 70 magazine---from 1-7 rounds can be easily thumbed out.  With 8 in the mag--it's stuck.
2nd Vzor 70 magazine--from 1 -6 rounds can be easily thumbed out.  Locks up with more.
Vzor 50 magazine--1-5 rounds can be easily thumbed out.  Any more results in lock-up.

I researched the appropriate threads in this sub-forum but the people who reported issues on the 50/70's haven't logged into the board in years.

One had said that he was going to try and find the correct size dowel to round the lips on the offending magazine.

I've measured the lip spread on each from front to back and they are very close at 7.1-7.2 mm.

Anyone else have issues and find a solution? 

Can you take a micrometer to the ID of the curled lips on the top side of your magazine(s)?

I know these are just collectibles, but I'd like for all the CZs in my collection to be fully working.

Hi rd,
I was wondering if maybe your mags might have a wrong spring, but then it would be strange if all of yours did.

Anyway, I measured a couple of my mags.  One was .295" at the rear and .296" at the front.  The other was .296" at the rear and .299" at the front.

After loading 8 rounds I was able to thumb them  all out without any trouble.

That's wider than any of mine.

I'll work one of my Vz. 70 mags wider and try it.

BTW...with the purchase of a CZ Drake 92 (12 gauge) today, I'm up to TWENTY-FIVE (25) CZs.

I met a new dealer who had a lot of CZ rifles and shotguns.  He told me that there is a collector that came to the show yesterday that has 121 CZ's--30 of which he bought from this dealer.  I wonder if that person frequents this forum?

I've never had any interest in shotguns, but a CZ is still a CZ.  And the collection grows...... lol

P.S.  I also have a number of foreign made pistols with Czech markings.  Sort of a collection sideline.

To be completely accurate, the shotguns are made by Huglu in Turkey and labeled as CZ. They are not made in Uhersky-Brod.

To be clear: the magazine when removed from the gun gets stuck with 8 rounds? New magazine springs would be a cheap, simple fix.

Let me restate the problem...

With 8 rounds loaded in the magazine, when in the gun, racking the slide fails to strip one and go into battery.

With 8 rounds loaded in the magazine, when NOT in the gun, the top round is "stuck" and cannot be thumbed out of the magazine.  I can only remove it by using a screwdriver to pry it out.

I have TWO (2) Vzor 70 and ONE (1) Vzor 50 magazine.

They all have this problem with EIGHT (8 ) rounds.

The Vzor 70 magazines seem to function with SEVEN (7) rounds in them.

The Vzor 50 magazine works with SIX (6).

I've taken the magazines apart and my thinking is they need WEAKER springs instead of STRONGER ones.

I've also taken micrometer readings across the span of the tops of the mags and they are very close to the same, but all are just slightly narrower than what czechollector reported for his.

I got to thinking about the springs and took one out to measure it.  It's about 5 3/16" from center to center.

I believe springs are expected to compress down in absolute length. What really matters as far as strength is how many loops per distance.

You also might take the mags apart and give them a good cleaning.

You may find your feed problems are a combination of short OAL cartridge length and larger rim diameter. 32 ACP ammo is semi rimmed. For some reason, not all 32 ACP ammo has the same rim diameter, much less the same OAL. Combine a short OAL with a larger rim and you get feed problems., AKA rimlock.

FWIW...I have found that my '70 hates American hollowpoint,  barely tolerates  fmj(winchester etc) but really works well with euro fodder, Seller and Beloit, Privi, Herters etc.  Might grab a box of euro ammo and see if that helps... Good luck... BTW...love my '70...it is my EDC.

I reload for the 32 acp and there is a difference in barrel of European and American 32 acp.  European are .308 and the American are .310 to .311.  With American 32's,  I just reload the bullets(.312) right out of the box.  For the European 32's I resize the bullets to .309 so they function well.
