Czech out my Czechmate

YeeHaw!!

Arrived Friday. Paid $2799 new. Contemplated this for days, is the big $$$ worth it. Figured it will be my retirement toy, when I leave work. So what the heck. Haven't shot it yet, waiting on bullets. Looks good so far. Range report later this weekend. I am stoked.

What ammo are you going to be shooting to provide gas for the comp.?

I had 9 different bullets on hand, from reloading the 357 sig. Checking how close a dummy load is to the lands, most were 1.05, too short of a leade depth. But of the 9, I found one that I can load out to 1.163, an Xtreme 135 RNFP. Have MG 115 JHP and Blue Bullets 115 RN on it's way. I'll check these 2 for length. Czechmates have a short leade depth. Chamber is spot on in depth, just the leade is cut too shallow, as I have read here and elsewhere. Very similar to long distance competition, less of a distance for a bullet to jump, before entering the bore.

Then chrono single laddered shots (7.2, 7.4, 7.6, etc...). Find the best power factor and accuracy. Then load 20 of each and see how they do. Then stick to a single bullet/powder/primer combination and call it good.

Powders, I have some HS6 and Silhouette, maybe VV 3N38. All Win Brass and Fed 200 primers.

Sounds like a plan.  A friend use Silhouette and it generates a lot gas. Leaves a little residu to clean, but runs good..

Finally got out and tested this CM, after a week of waiting for supplies of bullets and powder, but decided to just buy some store bought Aguila and some minor reloads (4.6 WSF). At least get the CMore dialed in and see how the CM runs.

Did some adjusting to the trigger and changed the Recoil spring out to a 9#. Works good, nice and soft for minor (1186 fps). Very accurate too. Once I get the right load (Major 173) I can try again.

Check these primers, see anything unusual?

Top and second row second from left dont seem to be as close to the edge as the rest.  Interesting.

Well after some research, I guess it's normal. Some guys at the 1911 have the same off center strikes.

I took a Bore Scope and looked down the barrel and sure enough, the firing pin hole is off center. Hope this doesn't catch me at a Stage.... >:(

When I was shooting today, I had a few failures to feed and a few failures to fire. Adjusted the trigger and changed to a lighter recoil spring. Starting running better, still had a few feeding and ejecting issues. Think I'll get out again and shoot 100 rounds, see how that goes.

The commercial Aguila and most of the brass pics look mighty dirty on the bases for new or reloaded ammo.
This suggests a light load/a poor seal.  Are the sides of the "commercial" minor PF 9mm brass similar?  If so,  it might explain some of the failures you've experienced. :-\

If the off center FP hole bothers you too much, LMK.  I'm in need of a truck gun  O0

BTW, kinda surprised to hear about the FT-feed/fire.  These guns are normally pretty reliable.  Just noticed that your pistol frame shows a CZ-USA (KS) marking.  Wondering how common this is, as the few I've seen only show the made is CZ

For the FT-fire- suggest looking at the firing pin & spring to see if FP is damaged and see what weight spring is in there.  Perhaps consider extended FP and/or lighter spring in the event you have a lighter than stock main spring.

Feeding issues would have me looking at ammo and mags.
