99041 failing to go into battery
« on: July 08, 2018, 01:59:43 PM »
I took it to the range for the first time this week. I had several instances of this happening. Once it even flipped the round backwards. Anyone else have this problem?
It's doing the same thing with both the older factory 14 round mags it came with and the new 15 round ones I bought separately. I was using 115 grain Winchester White Box. Before someone points out the obvious, it was cleaned and lubricated before I went to the range. I recall reading this being a reported problem with the 75 Compact 40 S&W.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. The obvious I was going to point out is a different one lol...try different ammo other than the notoriously problematic and inconsistent WWB. Hope you get it sorted out, very frustrating I know.

Yeah, WWB isn't my favorite ammo, but it was on sale for $10/box. lol

I tried a box of WW, still have some of it.  Functioned, just shot bigger groups than the Federal.  I can get 100 round boxes of Federal (brass cased, too) 115 grain FMJ at Walmart for around $18.  I'm not buying WW.

I've only shot one of my steel frame, P01 looking CZ75 Compacts.  Zero problems.  I don't remember if I tried any of the 147 grain ammo in it but I know I've shot 115 grain FMJ and hollow points through it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I?ve had some problems with white box in my PCR. Light primer strikes were happening around 1/100 rds.
I swapped out my FP for the CGW extended FP kit. It hasn?t happened since I did the change. But I?ve quit buying the ammo. I?d rather shoot 124gr

My SP-01 eats the white box 115s without an issue.

Is the feed ramp polished?
When the knock on the door said “Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms,” naturally I thought it was a delivery…

Try some different/better quality ammo. If the issue persists and the gun is new call CZ-USA and they will take care of you.

I agree with the above posters, try some better ammo, I reload, and one of the main reasons for reloading my own 9mm is because I feel I can do a better job of QC/QA.. I hate to say it, but the quality of pistol ammo within the last 10-15 years, had been going downhill rapidly.. It's not unusual to find out of spec rounds in a box of ammo anymore, whereas 10-15 years ago it was kinda rare.. Winchester white box is usually a bit underpowered compared to European 9mm which is close to +p ammo here..But yeah, try better ammo, if that dosen't work, call CZ, they'll take care of you..

I don't find WWB to be horrible quality. I find Remington UMC to be pretty bad.
WWB has always been pretty consistent on my chronograph and while there are some occasional differences in OAL's they have always chambered for me.

S&B on the other hand I stay away from. Their primer pockets are crimped are are too annoying to reload so whenever I see a read marking on the case I toss it immediately.

If the gun isn't going into battery, please explain what you're seeing so we can help.
There are many issues that are possible.

The rounds are not seating in the chamber. I've also had a double-feed and one round that literally ended up backwards with the bullet nose on the breechface.

No more than it was from the factory. I do use JB Bore Cleaner and Bore Bright on feed ramps though, so it's not very rough. I run a nitrile glove across it, if it doesn't rip, it's smooth enough for me.

Is it jamming on the ramp or going into the chamber, just not 100%. Say 90% of the way

If I had to guess, I'd say it's not going completely into the chamber. It's almost into battery. The first few times I thought they were light primer strikes because I installed the blue CGW hammer spring, but that can't be it because I also put in the extended firing pin. I also installed the exact same setup in my surplus 75 BD Compact and it has no problems using the same ammunition and mags.
