Was an SP-01 safety version (not Tactical/decocker) ever made in .40 S&W?

Never got an answer on this.  ???

So, was the SP-01 in .40 S&W ever made in a safety version, or was it decocker only?

I don't know for certain that they never made a safety model but I've never seen one either online or at gun shops. I have always assumed it was never made.

Here is a link from CZ USA with a comment at bottom from "james" that may be pertinent:

No.  SP-01's in 40 S&W came with a decocker, no safety.  The all steel compact version of the SP-01 (not the P-06) did come with a safety, no decocker

The problem with CZs (one of the very few) is that CZ does random stuff when making runs of their handguns.

CZ75 Compacts are steel frame, single side safety, no rail pistols.  Right?  I've got three of them.

Then CZ ships over a load (small, but still out there) of Compacts marked "CZ75 Compact" but with a P01/railed style steel frame and ambidextrous safeties.

Both models are stamped CZ75 Compact on the slide but the frames are totally different.

P01s are aluminum framed decocker pistols.  Right?

A batch, or two, of CZ P01 stamped pistols have shown up in the US with steel frames and ambidextrous thumb safeties.

CZ85's have ambidextrous safeties and slide releases.  Right?

Every now and then someone shows up with a pistol stamped "CZ85" on the slide but it doesn't have the ambidextrous slide release and from the way the frame is made it left the factory that way.

That's just three examples of CZ popping up with odd models of pistols.  Only they know why they do that.

I would never vote against the idea that there may be some safety framed SP01s out there somewhere.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I suspect the thought process goes somewhat along the line of:

"Hummm-I've got staff I want to keep productively engaged, and I've got bins of perfectly good parts over there. Let's build some pistols."

I don't think model "purity" factors much into their priorities.

It seems to frustrate some, I find it engaging.
