805 mounting rail screws
« on: August 22, 2018, 01:49:08 PM »
Looking to take off the side and bottom rails on my Bren.  Don?t want to strip the heads on the screws.  What kind of screws are they? Ie hex or Phillips head?  Thanks for the help

Torx / 6 pointed star, they are very tight. there are lock washers behind the screws. Lay the rifle down flat to remove the screw keeping pressure on your screwdriver. I used a socket and socket wrench to change mine. You may want to remove the charging handle. They really torque these screws. I  laid my rifle on a double folded towel.

Have not done it yet.  Having a hard time finding the torx head at the hardware store.  Thanks for checking on me.

If you bought your rifle new in box, it should have a torx wrench in the cleaning bag.

I did buy my Bren new and I do have the cleaning kit.  Not to look to Dumb.  The only thing I see in the kit that might to use to take the screws off or a large T looking thing and a small tool in a zip lock.  Is one of these things used to take the screws off.  Sorry for the dumb question.

Don't say that. We are all here trying to help each other. I did not remember that my cleaning kit has the wrench when I first reply to your question.  Anyways here's a picture of my rifle when I first brought it home. The wrench (L Shape) is next to the white round cleaning brush.

Thanks for the kind words.  This is my first rifle.  I have 5 cz pistols and have been a pistol guy all my life.  My kits has all the parts in your picture except the torx wrench.  Great looking stock.  Which stock is it and did you use an adapter to make it fit?

I guess the torx wrench walked away somehow. That is too bad.
As far as the stock, it is the non adjustable that was used during the Czechs trials. Mine rifle  came with that because I have the California version. It was easier for CZ-USA to pin the stock so that can't be folded.
CZ-USA sells them but it's out of stock.
