Adding an optic to my CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical 9mm
« on: August 31, 2018, 09:52:00 PM »
I am thinking of trying an optic of some sort on this CZ of mine. Couple of questions...do I have to take it to a smith, or send it to CGW or CZC to get the work done? If so, anyone have an idea what this might cost and how long the turnaround might be?

CZ Custom RDS plate cut is hard to beat.  You'll have options if in the future you decide to change optics.  This is the route I went and am very happy with it.  Also, this places the dot very low which IMO is a huge benefit.

If I recall correctly, CZC quoted a couple months turnaround time but mine was back to me in about half the time.

Depends how you want it mounted, budget, time?
CZ custom also makes dovetail mounts for multiple optics.
Several different options.
If you're able and willing to send it off, the option listed above is a great choice btw.

Gducoing makes good points.   Just know there are many options for you to mount a red dot on your SP01.  One of these should meet your budget and end game needs.  Dove tail mounts are most easily reversed.  Any milling is a permanent modification but results in a better solution IMO.

Here are some of the options that I considered before deciding on the CZC RDS Plate Cut:

https://shop.springerprecision.com/category.sc?categoryId=101
http://primarymachine.com/cz-optic-milling/
https://cajungunworks.com/product/spcz75ken-shadow-optic-mount/

Also, note there is a difference between SP01 and SP01 Shadow models.  Ensure you verify what you have versus what you choose to order.

All good suggestions.
Your options will also depend upon what optic you go with; which may also depend upon your intended use IE: Range or Competition vs. Defensive (where BUIS considered essential).
I have two SP-01 Tacticals. One set up with CZ Custom's multi-optic plate and DPPro with optional adjustable rear iron and CZ tall tritium SR front sight. I'm really pleased with this set-up. I was able to switch from a Trijicon RMR (didn't like the small-ish reticle) to DPPro by just changing plate.

My other SP-01 was the first I did when I wasn't sure yet if I wanted to mill my slide. I used a JPoint optic that fits onto Leupold's CZ-75 dovetail mount (nicely contoured for a tight fit to CZ-75 slide) and a Dawson .275 tall F.O. front sight. I posted a DIY on how to do this including optic for <$325 in the 'Lights, Lasers,Red Dot' section of this Forum. This set-up would also work with a DPPro but taller front sight is required for DPpro to co-witness.

I know it's been a while since this post. but, can you please share more pictures of that CZ SP-01 Tactical with the DeltaPoint Pro? I'm interested in doing the same and would like to know how it ends up looking. Thank you.

I had the SP-01 milled by CZ Custom for their multi-optic plate, and mounted the DPPro.
I believe CGW also offers a multi-optic plate cut as well, but I was so pleased with CZC's work I had them do my P-01 as well.

IMHO the DPP with it's large 'window' is a great set-up for a full-size pistol like the SP-01. Very solid and durable.  I added the optional Leupold rear back-up iron that co-witnesses a tall custom height FO front sight I got from Dawson.

The nice thing about this set-up is that I could switch the plate to mount a different sight like the Trijicon SRO, Holosun, etc. but quite honestly the DPP has worked just fine for me, now for 2+ years already.
