Pre B 75 grips
« on: September 19, 2018, 04:12:14 PM »
I am considering manufacturing very early style pre B cz75 grips in my shop. I would mold them in a phenolic similar to the classic beaver barf vz.58 buttstocks except in black. These would be the very funky looking 1970's pattern.

Would there be any interest in this product? If not, what products would you like to see? I have a complete CNC machine shop and what I can't do, I know how to get done elsewhere.

I've seen requests on where to source black waffle grips of late 70's/early 80's from time to time...there is interest, not sure how high demand would be though to cover tooling costs etc.

When I bought my pre-B in 1989 (made in '87), Pachmayr made grips for them (which I bought after the first range outing). Those are slightly thicker than the factory hard plastic grips, and much more comfortable in the hand. I don't think they make the type I bought any more. These are two piece rubber with steel reinforcement inside and a different stippled surface than the current offerings. Nice for larger hands.

My intent is to make reproduction originals and retro looking traditional grips, but from a hard bakelite material, not a molded rubber like Pachmaeyr, but will consider beefing up the size.

While the grips (waffle pattern and later) for the CZ 75 were never made in a Bakelite material or look, that would be an interesting looking option. Vintage Gun Grips offer the basic black waffle pattern reproductions for about $35 before shipping. Color choices run an extra $15.

I gotten a set of those.......really cheaply made grips, not even worth $35.....though the reason I got them was for the retro look, which was nice.....the actual material horrible  :o

Bakelite would be good but why not even a G10 material on the retro style grip.....just a thought  8)

I concur. The material used feels like cheap plastic but not many options available if you want the look.

I will be using a phenolic similar to the G10. I'm going to experiment to see what has a nice look.

I'd love to have something thin, smooth & light.
