If I could only have One
« on: September 26, 2018, 08:03:23 PM »
I am not happy with my shooting with my new P01 I shoot my PCR much better. I know they are the same. Which one should I invest more money to improve. I prefer not total canonize. Also have the SP01 and P07 I like very much!  Thanks.

Seems like you have answered your own question. Upgrade the PCR...then slowly work on upgrading the rest of them.

I personally installed the Spring kit for $18 and replaced the polymer guide rod for SS.  Always have spare pins, for the slide, though.

I didn?t need anything else, personally.

Could it be the P01 needs a CGW 10x bushing or does the trigger suck?  Maybe you no longer remember how gritty your PCR trigger was when it wasn't broke in?

Perhaps lighter hammer spring and shoot the snot out of it? Unless you have money to burn ;)

How many rounds through your PCR vs the new P01?
New trigger on the P01 and you might be walking circles around the PCR.  Or enough rounds to break it in.
I think it takes about a thousand rounds for me to get settled into a new gun.

Do you know it's the gun and not you?

If you know it's the gun, what is different between the P01 and the PCR?

Trigger?

Sights?

Grips?

Do you shoot the same ammo in both?  Have you tried different ammo in the P01 - because sometimes some guns "like" different ammo than what works well in some/most other guns, even of the same model/caliber.

ID what is different and work to change it.  I've seen (I own) CZ Compacts that benefitted from the CGW barrel bushing.  I know the triggers benefit from some polishing/stoning of trigger bar, hammer strut, some other parts.  DA trigger pull is supposed to benefit from lighter springs.

Good luck with it.  It's tough liking/shooting a gun that doesn't perform to your expectations.  Just be sure it's the pistol/rifle that needs the work and not the ammo or the shooter.

Not trying to say you "can't shoot", just saying I've seen people spend lots of money on high dollar rifles and scopes only to go to the range and see some kid (that's right, a 10 to 12 year old, boys and girls both) out shoot them with pretty much standard rifles with nothing special about the rifle/optic.  It's a shame when people attempt to buy good groups vs. skills improvement.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

^^Sound advice right here. A tough lesson to learn but the truth is the truth - don't ask me how I know ::)

It could well be the Indian and not the arrow!  I know I just need more range time with the P01. I ordered FO site and new springs so maybe that will help. It?s my favorite gun so I?m not giving up just yet. I primarely use thumbs down with PCR and P01 because feels more natural being they both have Lok palm swells. You think maybe a thinner grip would be best???

I'll second the comment about shooting the same ammo in each...I typically shoot CCI Blazer Brass, but also occasionally use Winchester White Box and Federal American Eagle (and other range ammo). Simply put, some of that ammo is just more accurate than the other...The Blazer Brass works well for me. YMMV

Obviously, trigger and sights are also big players too...lots of god advice above. Good luck.
