So I'm broke right now due to the obvious. I didn't sell any CZs, But I did sell an old Ruger 22 pistol, a 1903A3 and an Eddystone... sigh....
Neighbor came by and we were all amicably chatting and she said her husband got a glock 45 and was stoked etc...
I instinctively hung my head in shame shame shame...
She asked why I seemed sad and I said quietly/honestly "Glocks suck, I hate them", not to be mean, but just my deep gun thoughts etc...
My soon to be ex-wife piped up - "That's just his opinion... Personally I like Glocks and I shoot a Glock 19(once a year) and...." I tuned out at that point but she went on and on. I thought about explaining in excruciating detail why CZ > G, but it was to a couple of non shooting women so I figured I would keep my mouth shut, and maybe save myself some money and hassle later on down the road. I think he got the 30S which is the exact gun my wife picked out but then hated and we ended up selling because she didn't listen to me and get something halfway decent at least like the 43 that had just came out at the time. Poor guy, I cant wait to let him shoot a pair of 1911s or 97s and a PILE of freshly made cheap ammo.
I'm not going to go into details here on Glock bashing but running a match on ONLY paper scorecards because the old guys cant see computer screens, Unsupported chamber, Crap stock triggers, and poly crap frames(I just like steel) are the main reasons. At one match I saw one 300 pound dude in a kilt with no-kidding a drop leg holster for the Glock. I about spilt all my ammo out right there. Then a worker of the match gives me a hard time because I wasn't all Glocked up/looking bored. He was checking safety I guess, which the gun was cleared and bagged and such but in the back of my mind I was like just let me work on splits today dude and roll on please....I'm all for beginners but what a freaking joke. Most of the people are nice I just don't like the way they run things, and Glocks suck.

I have owned a number of glocks but do not currently have a single on. I have dozens of CZs and sigs.
-
Not a Glock fan either but divorce seems a bit extreme for her poor choice of firearms. All kidding aside, I have a good friend who is a complete Glockhead but every time I put a CZ in his hands he gets a huge smile on his face after putting a couple of mags downrange....then goes back to his Glocks that he doesn't shoot as well as my CZs. I just don't get the Glock religion but each to his own worship and such. ;D
-
I've watched the praise and dissing of various firearms owner's "favs" over time and have come to a conclusion. Each to his own is certainly true, but often as not those condemning or defending the loudest really just want to "belong" to this or that....or have something to talk about. Just my opinion, which together with a dollar should buy you a bottle of water most places.
I own a Glock because I inherited it. Having been forced to carry one the second half of my career (because it was the "fav" of someone at the top who wanted everyone to carry what he liked), really left me with a cold attitude towards them. They work and they are dependable, but other designs are as well and not only feel better in my hand but have form along with function.
I've experienced the divorce blues, but for me it didn't cost me any firearms or any loss of custody with kids. I know others who really got took though.

Have never owned a Glock, but have fired a few. My issue with them is the grip angle. They want to point high every time I draw or recover from a shot. My last experience was with I think a third generation 19. It was very reliable, but not as accurate. Part of that was the trigger which must have been 8-9 lbs and very mushy and the a fore mentioned grip angle.
Have a buddy who it fits perfectly. He did modify the trigger and he indexes perfectly from a draw. He has completely replaced the upper assembly, barrel and all. Naturally on his carry bag is "Glock Perfection" though little of his firearm is actually Glock.

Glocks…engineered for idiots, favored by administrators…
…and dogs love ‘em!!

My favorite Glock feature is how ugly and utilitarian they are. Never once worried about the finish. It almost says I dare you to Drop in the dirt, soak it in the water, scramble through the brush, toss it in the glovebox. I never shot them as well as my CZs, but I was never disappointed by them either.
-
I don't hate Glocks. I just don't particularly like them. Also, I have quite a few Polymer Framed Pistols in my Collection of useful artifacts.
One particular beef that often goes un-mentioned is the "generous" chamber dimensions most Glock versions have or had. Barrel Chamber Support
can also be an issue. As a Reloader, I've noticed it takes a good bit more effort to re-size Brass that's been "Glocked".

The only Glock I've owned for well over twenty years is a G17.2 until about three weeks ago. In the interim I've been a CZ man with the exception of a Walther PPS M1 for those times a P07 was a little to big to conceal. With the release of the G43X/48 I decided to get something with more capacity and I could shoot better than the PPS. So, along comes the G48... The guy at the LGS hates Glocks but when he handled the G48 his comment was, "Hmmm, this feels pretty good!" I have to laugh when I think back to his pronunciation of "Glooock", like he was puking. ;D
-
I'm a whore...I'll shoot anything. Sure, I prefer a CZ but when times are tough that G22 will get naughty too.
-
Wife and I took her brother to the range. We each brought our P07s, and her brother had his 19X. She ran half a mag through the Glock and handed it off to me, saying "I'd take a revolver over this thing" ! (She's a keeper-No divorce here) I finished off the Magazine and his pistol found it's way back into it's case. Her brother ran a few mags with our P07s and admitted he liked them, but wasn't too comfortable with the grip-angle.
He was also impressed by the fact that neither 07 rattled like his pistol did, and was shocked when I told him our respective round counts. Both CZs had more than 10 times as much use as his Glock and are rock solid !
-
I've never cared for Glocks at all but... a buddy of mine has a nicely built G19 with a Zev trigger, zev slide, and a match barrel. I actually like it a lot and shoot it as well as my comparably improved P10C. Considering how long it took me to acclimate to the P10, that says a lot for his G19.
-
I don't own a Glock, Never have. Shot a few but not impressed with them. Truth be told, I don't own a "Plastic Gun" all mine are steel and wood!!
You know, A REAL gun!! O0
-
LOL- "I'd take a revolver over this thing" - me too. The G43/48 would be my only glock, but I still think I'd get something else.
The only poly pistol I own is a KAHR CM9 - the trigger on that thing is stock and smoothest DAO trigger (that is metal, no safety dingus) I could find at the time. I wish CZ would make a micro alloy single stack that is hammer fired.
Imagine if they used the new 30SC in a double stack mag that was micro and hammer fired in poly/or alloy frame with the same style CZ slide...
They'd sell faster than bacon and eggs for breakfast. anyway...

I like Glocks, CZs, & Sigs.
I'm with you and add in HK. I have handguns from all four brands that I'd feel confident carrying in a GTW/SHTF/bugout/apocalypse situation.
One thing I like about Glocks is how easy they are to service. After all these decades, and so much more market competition, Gaston's design is still the easiest to work on.
-
I have never owned a Glock, got four CZs. However, I respect the reliability and when I shoot the ones owned by friends I shoot a good group. It's also hard to tell a new gun owner that police departments across the country have chosen the incorrect firearm. I would not have made a negative statement about the neighbor's choice anymore than I would if I preferred Ford and they had just bought a Toyota (or vice versa).
Just my opinion.

Spent a career wearing a badge. Not for nothing but what law enforcement agencies select often has less to do with what's best, and more to do with what things cost. Back in the day, we often ended up with Chrysler product squad cars for that very reason, and we often said "off to protect and serve, if low bid will just get us there". I think the pistols in question often cost less than other offerings.

Gaston Glock’s genius was more in marketing than in engineering: he practically gave away Glocks to LEO agencies and militaries, knowing full well that the general public en masse would follow suit and blindly purchase whatever LEOs and soldiers were carrying. Ron Cohen at SIG probably does the same thing now, which would explain why SIG is winning so many contracts with the US Military recently.

It's funny to see how people react when they try the A01-LD after going on about the glock at our little range buffets here in the desert. To be fair, they are worlds apart as far as guns go but it is like a rainbow of joy seeing the look of... "holy cr*p I thought glocks were perfect. why did nobody ever tell me there were better guns out there?"
-
I just got an email that its time to renew my GSSF membership! - LOL put that in with the NRA junkmail. sticking with CZ, Ruger and GAO...
I still laugh about my instinctive disgust for them. I was shooting a 22rimfire match last week. The fake plastic safety guns were on the general range catch all table glowing in bright orange. I picked it up like a stinky bag of dog crap and handed it to my friend, making him accept it. I don't even like the fake ones. I wonder if they are still running matches on paper. I WOULD like to go see that actually.
-
I like Glocks for the safety standpoint of carrying
with one in the chamber. Plus the fact that most
of the magazines are compatible with smaller
versions of the same caliber. ie
G17 mags in a G19
-
Gaston Glock was a genius. He found a way to make & mass produce an auto-loading pistol for poorly/semi trained personnel. Essentially Pvt. Pyle proof. He was first. And once it was discovered a police agency or military could issue pistols on the cheap, he was on his way.
-
I still hide my hopped up CZs in a glock bag. They shoot good but still suck comparatively. I wonder if they are still using paper scoresheets in 2023? Sounds like the bleeding edge of perfection to me.

They are. A buddy of mine was RO at one of their recent matches. He told me about it.

I have several Glocks.
G17.3, g34.4, g30.4,g20.4
My opinion
I like the grip angle.
The grip angle helps me control the muzzle flip.
The CZ doesn’t need that angle.
It has a low bore design.
The sig p320 has high bore design.
And a low grip
Angle.
I like the Springfield XDS,
Sig p365.
I also like to RSO Glock matches.
The shooters are very respectable.
It’s a good few days of fun with my friends and free lunch.
I have RSO other matches using electronic scoring.
It’s has its issues too.

Awesome. A few weeks ago I saw a you guy carrying mexican open like a bad ass. Walking around with sleeveless t shirt and all. I laughed out loud at his dumb bleep and his dumb poly gun.
Then there was another guy that no bleep wore a drop leg nylon holster at a kids softball game. I assumed it carried a nameless poly gun, but I wont count it as a glock specifically. It's a comical eye roll. I shivered at the thought that could have been me one day but hey at least he is open carrying. I personally love open carry. Anyway, glocks still suck and I won't waste a dime on them. But they do make good bags. I love their pistol bags.

Unfortunately, I drank the Kool-Aid with Glock early on. But like you said, once you feel the grip of a CZ platform gun, there is no comparison. Now 95% of my guns are CZ platform.
Once you go CZ, the choice is easy. Well, CZ Platform at least. 8)

that's funny but most of my CZs get the upgrade treatment too. It's so much harder for me to resist tuning a stock CZ than a stock glock.
-
I don't like glocks. Grip angle, unsupported chamber, lousy trigger, etc....Howether Glocks have one huge advantage: resistance to dirt, mud, sand.
If you are in the desert, jungle, swamp, clean your gun once a year (but not every year!) - Glock is for you. It will still function.

It's understandable that everyone has their own preferences when it comes to firearms. While you may not be a fan of Glocks due to factors such as grip angle, unsupported chamber, and trigger quality, it's worth noting that Glocks do have a reputation for their reliability in harsh environments.
However, it's important to note that regular cleaning and maintenance are still recommended for any firearm, including Glocks.
-
Not sure I agree that the newer generation of Glocks are as dirt resistant as their older counterparts. See a lot more Gen 5s malfunction and basically it is either just a dirty gun (not cleaned) or dirt in mags. Believe that Glock has tightened its tolerances to make their products more accurate, but has sacrificed a little on reliability. Just my observation on shooting a matches.
I clean my CZ match pistol and mags after every other match, so I have not had that issue. My problems are from buying cheap ammo, which will frequently not cycle the slide, or fail to lock back on last round. Saving $20 on a case of ammo was a stupid decision; one not to be repeated.

A coworker told me he likes Glocks "because of the safety" which made me cross my eyes and make the smelling salts face but I digress. He said he has shot a nice 1911 so I'm still bumfuzzled.
I also got to shoot my .22 Joker Pistol next to the ongoing Glock match. I will just say that I'm still not impressed. Have a great weekend and stay away from the Dark Side!
-
I work with a lot of idiots too. Sadly, most have post secondary educations (maybe that should be a strike against them? :D)
Avoid divorce and tinker with Glocks as side chicks.
-
There are Colt-styled 1911 45 autos, Smith-styled K frames, Browning Hi Powers and......."other pistols" thou I do love my CZ 82s....
Lo, do I ever know that I will be dog piled, and yet- there it is in my opinion.
