Hello, my first time posting here and new CZ owner. I just bought a BNIB P01 and only cycled the slide a few times (never fired) and noticed wear on the slide rail. I can actually see bear metal !! Is this normal for CZ ?? Should I be concerned ?? Also, the factory mags loaded like trash and the decocker seems to push in from the right side with my finger rather easy. What gives ?? The gun is beautiful but to see all this is making me twice ?? Btw, I own several guns from different makers and have been shooting for decades and this is the first time I’m experiencing this 🙉 thank you for your time and any advice.
-
None of my CZ's ever had any finish on the rails to begin with so they were bare not bear metal from the factory. Everything you describe seems normal but if you think you have an issue the best thing to do is call CZ-USA and see what they say. 800-455-4486.
-
Thank you for the response. I’ve never had the gun broken down, the wear is in the exposed rail underneath the Muzzle and it’s only on the right side of the gun not left. So it not just wear but uneven wear at that 🙉
-
I have Beretta, Browning, CZ, Colt, S&W/M&P, FN, SIG, Glock and maybe some brands I just don't remember this time of the morning.
None of them will shoot with a CZ. Finish wear on the rails, the inside of the slide, the hammer channel in the back of the slide? I don't really care. I know I'm more apt to hit what I'm aiming at with a CZ than any of the other brands.
Field strip it. Clean it (even a new gun should be cleaned), lube it up and shoot it. You'll like it just fine.

As I stated above if you think you have an issue call CZ-USA at the number I posted. They are the only ones who can help you. Otherwise as was also suggested clean the gun and go shoot it and see how it functions.

Otherwise as was also suggested clean the gun, apply oil to the rails and go shoot it and see how it functions.
As state in the FAQ Section, some CZ's may require up to 500 rounds for "break in".

Thank you all for the responses 😜 I always clean and lube my new guns before I shoot them. I just find it odd that just racking the slide a few times that the finish not only wore off but wore off on one side only. The gun is brand new and in my mind shouldn’t wear that fast and that easy ?? Just wanted know if anyone else had issue like this ?? I’ve seen on YouTube the issue with the Decocker walking out of battery 🙉 I hope this isn’t going to be an issues as well ?? Thank you again

Please explain how 2 finely machined parts would run against each other with this coating in place. It can't happen. Therefore the coating cannot be on the rails and have the gun operate. It's a non-issue.

Being on YouTube does not make anything an "issue". Often times, things like this are posted by other brands simply to disparage a brand and discourage potential buyers.

About 4 or 5 years ago, maybe more, some of the P01 Omega pistol had issues with the decockers moving out of the frame.
Never heard of the standard P01 decocker pistols having that issue.
The internal parts are different in the Omega pistols and the decockers and safeties can be removed/switched. The standard P01 is a decocker from the day they make the frame and start putting the parts in it.
-
M1A4ME is right. It's sounding more and more like you bought a non-Omega pistol.

My gun is not an Omega, does it make a difference?? And I know at some point in time finish wear does occur !! Like I said before wear without shooting it ?? And uneven at that ?? I thank you for all responses and trying to help.also, I saw several videos in reference to the decocker. The day I bought the gun, the guy who did a safety check at the gun shop who’s been there for awhile opened the box saw the gun and after Mekong sure it was as safe, checked to decocker and made a comment to keep an eye on it in case it walks on me ?? I found that odd then went home and sure enough found videos in reference to. Btw, that day I called CZ and they told me that they’ve had issues In The past in reference to the decocker walking out and to shoot it and if there was an issue to send it back !! My thought was I just bought this gun an hour ago and already there might be an issue ?? I love this gun and want it to be work flawlessly and be Bad Ass !! I’m not knocking it and came here to ask opinions on what I’ve found !! So info and opinions is all I’m looking for I’m not trying to upset people 😜 God Bless you guys and thank you 🙏

You've gotten opinions from people who have been here for quite some time and have vast experience with CZ's yet you continue to cite nonsense YT vids and now you add even more layers to the story with the I called CZ and the guy at the gun shop said stuff which you some how failed to mention at the start.
If you won't take the advice you've been given then no one can help you.
Right now I'm going to go listen to my favorite old trucker classic Troll On Big Mama.

I took out a few of mine.
PCR- it had a black coating on the sides when I first got it. After 600 rounds some of that is worn off and bare metal is showing. Both sides worn evenly and never had a malfunction.
PO1- this one is brand new and never been shot. The sides of the slide are coated, no metal showing. I racked the slide a few times and nothing changed.
SP-01 w/decocker. 500 rounds. Sides are showing metal, even wear on both sides. Never had a malfunction.
SP-01 urban grey w/decocker - I bought this used previous owner said very low round count. Exterior looks brand new and looks well taken care of. The sides are showing metal but even wear on both sides.
The decocker issue I've only ever heard about in regards to the omega. Doesn't mean there won't ever be an issue with a non omega. The gun shop employee made a comment and now it's in your head. Best way to go about this is shoot it. See what it does.
People on any brand of any item can get a bit defensive depending on the wording of the OP.
"mags load like trash"... "has me thinking twice." What does that even mean? You aren't saying what it's actually doing for us to even help. When I read posts of this kind I automatically start thinking this person is trying to get a rise out of the members.
If the gun has you "thinking twice"... Sell it now. Why own something that is giving you doubts. Why even post about it? Just get rid of it. I personally don't own any gun that I'm not comfortable with.. Range toys included.
-
I checked the decocker on my pcr and po1. They both have a slight movement if you press in from the right side. It does not feel like anything is about to walk out. Feels pretty normal imo.

Yes this is exactly right. The decocker is held in place by the simple tail of a spring and it will go nowhere. I own 3 decocker CZ's and they are all the same. You can also get the same movement from the safety lever on non-decockers by pushing the shaft back and forth. This is perfectly normal.

I don't have the experience like some contributors here but I bought a brand new PCR (2016) and a brand new P-01 (2020) and both had bare metal on the rails out of the box. Of course there was some polycoat marbled-in as well and it's not the same on both sides. There's STILL some polycoat on my rails in spots. Also, you may find that the barrel's finish is thin or worn at the front. Pull back the slide and look. It's from test firing at the factory.
Way back in 2016 as a new firearms owner, I had the same concerns with the barrel finish wear out of the box. But I'm not sure how much working-in they do to get the rails shiny like that or if they grind the polycoat off a bit, but it's normal. Hope it puts you at ease a bit.

Interestingly discussions on all three issues the OP mentions can be found on the first page of this sub section of the forum. I think read these threads and cooked up his first post.

Vast experience is what I was looking for, that’s why I came here. I tried to keep this simple because I’m writing this on my iPhone. Any now I’m getting insinuations and accusations?? What I said was the truth and my experience with this gun that I’ve only had for a week an never been fired is limited. Sorry for wasting my time and yours to get your honest opinion about the gun and not about me. Now that I’ve been a gentleman about this. Let me me release the Fireman in me out 😜

Over a decade ago, the Firearms Blog/Andrew Tuohy then writer there now at Vuurwapen Blog did a CZ factory tour with the video now removed from YT (can still find some of the writeup on TFB), but CZ has a machine where they manually cycle the slide a few to several hundred or so times without actually firing it. At least a couple dozen pistols all in a line on this machine if memory serves. It's why, unlike say Sigs, there isn't a 500 round break-in period for CZs. You get some barrel chatter and rail wear from this process on new guns, but it is what it is and saves you at least a Benjamin in ammo plus time. CZ's are made to be tools, not safe queens. YMMV.

Just to clarify so I don't get flamed by anyone, I love cz's.
with that said after getting my first CZ hand gun 75B, I found this forum and asked a simple question of "does anyone have a good load for a cz 75b I am just looking for a starting point.
I was called lazy and to work up my own load, also told I knew nothing about guns period.
Almost left for good...
Just saying this forum is the only one I know of where people question your post, don't believe what one says in there post, then it leads to slamming the poster as a know nothing liar.
If one says anything about a problem with the Perfect CZ'S they become the target.
One thing is for sure most on this forum have drank the CZ kool-aid and one does not say anything bad about the cz.
This is my opinion and I am sure most don't care about my opinion.
I hope my opinion don't get me banned, this is a great forum full of great info..

Hello and welcome. As others have said I’ve had zero issues with my CZ’s.
But have had issues with other manufactures. Any manufacture can have issues including CZ. Had a new Ruger LCP for example that wouldn’t shoot more than one round. Sent it back and they fixed it. Since you have contacted CZ, I would send it back and have them look at it. It very well could be out of speck.
In another note, you mention your dealer mentioning that there may be an issue and keep an eye on it. IMHO, that’s when I would have said thank-you. I decline the transfer. Send it back please. You as the consumer have the right to inspect and deny any firearm you order prior to transfer. [emoji6]
Just my opinion and not trying to flame. We all make mistakes. Hindsight is always 20/20 if not better. Again I would contact CZ USA and get a return label. ANY manufacturer can and will send out a faulty product from time to time.

Actually, I remember seeing that video. That certainly explains the barrel smiles out of the box, because I can't see how a few factory test shots could cause it. Anyway, I found a video.. not sure if it's the same video, but at the 8:10 mark, it briefly shows the machine.

This is the only post I've seen from you that asks about loads.. Looks to me everyone was supportive and giving you help. No where in that post did they say you were lazy. If this isn't the post.. Please post the link to back up your claim.

Funny how all posts can be researched. [emoji6] Seems like all involved were polite and safety orientated. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

whereisit,
I believe this is the post, I wish I could remember who it was that left the negative post saying that I was lazy and needed to do my own work. also that a cz was not just another gun, therefore I know nothing about guns.
I know I left a reply telling them that I did know guns and that I have worked up loads all on my own but liked to ask people what they use to get a starting point, a good bullet ect. I don't believe I said it in a nice way!
I then deleted my post thinking I had stooped to their level. Maybe that person deleted their post also. But then again if it isn't here it didn't happen......
sorry for hijacking this thread, not my intention.

My gun is not an Omega, does it make a difference??
>> The non-Omega models are the original design. The P01 was designed and built to compete in a competition for European police agencies, and having a decocker as standard equipment was in the specs. Therefore the original gun was never designed to be be "either/ or".
About 7 years later, CZ introduced the "Omega trigger system" for the P07 and P09, which they added to the second generation P01. The Omega does allow selection between decocker and safety. Those selectable parts are/were included in the box with the new gun. These parts are/were changeable by the gun's owner.
The differences between the first and second generation receivers AND internal parts are significant. The Omega parts cannot be added to a non-Omega gun. If you want that choice, then you MUST buy an Omega-style gun. There is no way around that.
>> Not only is there no change option for the original model, unwary owners who disassemble the original decocker system are in for a BIG surprise because the mechanism is extraordinarily complex. Unless you are a master gun smith, hold a degree in mechanical engineering, or repair complex mechanisms (such as clocks/watches) for a living, then you will be hard pressed to re-assemble this mechanism successfully.
Hope this fully answers the questions about which model you own and the original question pertaining to the decocker. As explained earlier, the non-coated rails are a non-issue.

Definitely not the video, and I remembered the contraption as having more guns, but this absolutely illustrates what I was referencing in regards to why CZ pistols show "use"/wear even when new. Thanks for locating!
-
My P01 omega I recently bought as used showed no wear at all like it had only been cycled a couple times and not shot. Maybe now days when they final inspect them if they cycle smooth they go on to the packing room and if they show a little roughness they put it on the machine. A good video. Just after the machine part they show a tag hanging on the mirror of a car. Reminds me of the old steering wheel knobs on the cars from the 50's and 60's. The good old days.
-
Each of my 3 CZ pistols had finish lost on both slide and frame rails when new. I accounted for the finish loss to final fitting.

As has been said before, you can't have 2 parts sliding against each other without expecting the finish to be worn. You are wasting everyone's time, and if such a simple mechanical concept is hard for you to grasp, maybe you shouldn't be handling guns at all
