Hello Friends,
So after 6 months I've finally received my brand new CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow pistol with its Antreg Zenith 22S .22 conversion kit.
For those that don't know about this kit, I found a topic talking about it here: https://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=88944.0 , basically it uses the same design as the well known Kadet.
The accuracy is top notch, the fit and finish is awesome and it looks gorgeous mounted on my Shadow frame.
While the slide of this kit is a dream, the magazines sold with it are cheap, plastic made, junk!
So here is the issue I'm running into: the slide won't stay back on an empty magazine.
Even if I insert an empty magazine and manually pull back the slide, the slide stop won't activate.
I also tried to use this magazine with another CZ 75 frame at the range but encountered the same problem.
By field stripping the pistol and taking a closer look at the slide stop, the problem is pretty obvious: the slide stop and the magazine follower barely touch each other!
Moreover the magazine spring seems quite weak, the brand new slide stop spring won't help with that either...
Searching around the forum, this issue seems to be common with Kadet kit too and using a slide stop with a larger tab to make better contact with the magazine follower could fix the problem.
The posts I've read so far advised to use a CZ 75 PCR slide stop, but i can't find any information about the measurements/size of it so I've no idea if it will be any better than my actual SP-01 Shadow slide stop regarding the lack of contact with the magazine's follower.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this issue.
Thanks!
PS: Apologies for my poor English, it is not my mother tongue.

Don't have a conversion kit for mine. But it sure does look good on that pistol.
Since the magazine fits into and locks into the frame, could you try a CZ Kadet magazine?
-
Sorry to hear about the magazine quality and issue you?re having. Also, can?t help with the PCR slide stop data as I am currently traveling. Have you emailed the company and received any response?

Thanks for your answer!
I have a friend at the range that own a full kadet pistol (not a conversion kit).
We made some tests yesterday:
- He tried to put my antreg magazine into his kadet pistol => Unable to hold the slide back.
- I tried to put the kadet magazine into my shadow frame + antreg kit => I could feel some strange scraping while pulling the slide to the rear, the slide would almost lock.
Sadly I didn't have the time to do some extensive tests like field strip the pistol and check how the kadet mag follower interacts with the slide stop when the slide is not on.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to try to help me.
If you find some time to send me the data about the PCR slide stop when you are back from your travel, I'll gladly have them.
I've also tried to contact directly Antreg (the company that manufacture the conversion kit) but the only english speaking address i could find is their Public Relation email, i'm pretty sure my message will never find its way to the "firearm department" customer service.

Do you use the frame for anything else (like putting the 9MM slide back on it to shoot it.)
If not, would it be possible to weaken/tweak the slide stop spring so it doesn't push down on the slide stop with so much force? If the slide stop was easier to push upwards (I wouldn't remove the spring) the factory magazines might be able to push it up.

Yes i still use the 9mm shadow slide with that frame.
So I rather not modify a brand new pistol that works otherwise flawlessly in 9mm to finally end up with two unusable slides :-\

What dimensions do you need from the PCR slide stop?
I think I have one that came with my kit that I purchased used. Might take me a bit to find it.

I m looking for the length of the small tab of the slide stop that pushes against the magazine follower when it is empty.
If I'm not clear I could take a picture tomorrow.
Thanks!

Looks, to me anyway, that the Kadet 22LR would be the best choice if it's long enough for your frame. Let me know if you need any more dimensions.

Hello Painter,
Thank you very much for your help.
Additionally would it be possible to have the following dimensions:
The length of the tab that is really problematic even more than thickness (red on my pic).
The length between the edge of the pin to the spring notch (blue on my pic) to see if it is compatible with my frame.
Thanks again for your kind help.

I can do that.

Dimensions are OAL of the tab, and distance to center of spring notch from the inside surface of the slide stop. I can measure the distance to the bump on the tab if you need that number.

I would be interested in seeing a pics of the Magazine's Follower / Feedlip configuration
The Mag in the Frame. Slide Stop in place but without the Kit installed
Or; How does the Follower interact with the Slide Stop ?

@ Painter:
Thanks again my friend, this is really helpful.
I'll try to find a digital caliper to take the measurements of my shadow slide stop and compare them all.
@ DenStinett:

I'd modify that little nub on the follower by building it up with epoxy.

I'd modify that little nub on the follower by building it up with epoxy.
If i add some extra material to the follower it won't fit anymore in the magazine.
Maybe I'm missing your point, where exactly would you do the modification?

I'd add it to the top.
It wouldn't be perfect, but it might hit the angled surface of the slide stop enough to function.
It doesn't seem like the PCR slide stop's added length would be enough to put the surface that is intended to hit the nub in the right place.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Let us know what you come up with for dimensions on your slide stop.

Great Pics actually 8)
Looks to me as the Locking Tab (Short Leg) of the Slide Stop isn't long enough to contact that Tab on the Follower correctly
Which Slide Stop is pictured ?
I believe the PCR's Slide Stop is a bit longer
If you feel the Slide Stop Spring is too stiff. try inserting the Long Leg of the Slide Stop from the wrong side of the Frame, about 1/4th inch and (fully) rotate it in the Hole a few times

Can you get a spare/extra follower for the magazine?
If so, you might drill a hole into the projection that sticks out the front left side of the follower (that should be extended over far enough to push the slide stop "up" and then drive a roll pin into it. A roll pin long enough to reach under and lift up that slide lock.
If I was going to do it, I'd epoxy the pin into the tap.
You've either got to extend the tab, find an extended slide stop or modify one or the other.
If you could get an extra slide stop you might be able to have someone add metal to the end of it so it stuck out over the tab on the followers.

Did you ever get this figured out?

Hello fellow CZ enthusiasts!
I'm really sorry for the very very late answer.
The thing is I had to send back the shadow's frame and the conversion kit to my LGS because I'm having horrible ejection/stove pipe issues with it in addition to the BHO feature not working.
Well, after several months I finally got my firearm back ... Annnnnd my LGS did nothing to fix the issues except telling me that the conversion kit is fine and just needs to break-in ( it's not like I've already put more than thousand rounds through it).
I guess I'll have to slightly modify the ejector's angle myself to solve the stove pipe issue (as described on this topic : https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=7863 ).
Now, back to the BHO issue.
I've been able to do some tests yesterday at the range with a friend that owns a kadet pistol:
- CZ Shadow frame + Antreg Conversion kit + Kadet slide stop + Antreg Magazine = Bolt won't hold open on last round, the magazine follower doesn't make contact with the slide stop slab.
- CZ Shadow frame + Antreg Conversion kit + Kadet slide stop + Kadet Magazine = Bolt hold open on last round, everything works fine!!! Well except for the stove pipes but that's another story.
So the first solution i found is to use the original kadet slide stop and magazine.
The problem is that Kadet magazines are really rare and expensive (like 100? per mag), moreover i've not been able to find a place selling the kadet slide stop.
Another possible solution i found while browsing the internet is that a gun store is making a custom pistol using the cz shadow frame + antreg conversion kit (same set up as me) but with a specific slide stop.
When i contacted this store recently, they told me that the BHO on their custom pistol is working perfectly thanks to a custom slide stop!
Sadly they also told me that they won't be able to sell the part separately to me. >:(
I highly doubt they designed a custom slide stop especially for this .22 conversion kit but I had no luck finding this part online.
Here is a picture if any of you can identify this mysterious slide stop:

Thanks again for your help!

Make sure the slide lock lever is loose enough in the assembled gun for the magazine spring to move it. Even in my 75B Kadet2, if the slide lock lever is dry, it won't lock on last round. Add a drop of oil, and it's fine again.

Why not buy it from CZ eu homepage, its like 60? for a kadet mag there?

Hi all,
I'm running a Shadow 2 frame with the Antreg zenith L kit and ran into the same no BHO issue.
What actually worked for me was taking the spring out of the Atreg magazines and streching them to twice the original length. After this, its a bit of a three hand deal to get them back in but the pay-off is that the bolt will now actually hold open after the last round!

Welcome to the Forum CZBrno
You can also loosen the Slide Lock Spring by inserting just the tip of the Slide Lock from the Right Side and rotating it several times
And knock the hard corner off of the Notch in the Slide Stop:

AFAIK
not available in the USA.
google for it. the mfg has other uppers too.

Okay Pewple, I might have been a little too quick on the gun (puns intended) calling my solution of streaching the spring a succes. After loading it up a couple of times and shooting about 3 magazines worth of ammo it was back to no BHO again. :-\
So then I bought some CZ kadet magazines and guess what! They won't fit! :o
Turns out the old metal ones will work fine but they aren't manufactured anymore. All you can buy new in my region are the polymer ones and they have a tab protruding from the top that prohibits the mag from going all the way in the gun so it wont lock and will definitely not feed.
Then I felt like I wasted good money on stuff I couldn't even use and that did not sit well with me so I grabbed my trusty file and went to work on one of the CZ kadet magazines.
Conclusion: works like a dream, even after 8 mags topped off and emptied the noisy way.
I do have to admit I had to file more than just the protruding tab, I took some off of both sides of the ears that hold the rim of the round and some out of the trench touching the flat surface of the brass at the friendly end of the cartridge. I have pictures but can't figure out how to upload them right now. :-[
For the best result, insert a flat head m4 bolt into the slit of the side of the magazine to hold the folower down as you put it into your gun. Then fit only the slide (without the barrel nor recoil spring) to the frame of the pistol and don't forget to hold the trigger and the hammer down when trying the action of the slide through the magazine. Again, I have pictures but no uploado knowledge just yet.

I didn't realize CZ was making Poly Mags for the CZ75 KADET ???
Some have said they have gotten the SP-01 Mags to work, after some modification, but I can't answer to that
OEM (metal) CZ75 KADET Mags are still available, but from what I've found; $75 - 80+ is really messed-up
Maybe you can offer to trade for a few gallons of Premium Gasoline :o
