Someone very close to me picked up a new P-10c and during the first 150 rounds was having problems with the trigger. During the early part of the trigger press the trigger would catch, not allowing the pistol to fire. If pressed hard enough, it would finally pop of what ever it was catching on and fire.  :o

We tore it apart and this is what we found.  :( :(  The trigger shoe safety thingy was catching on a burr located on the magazine catch. Someone at CZ made an attempt to correct it but all in all did a half ass job.  ::) ::)

Here you can see the burr in the center of the magazine catch.

Here you can see the rub mark in the middle of the trigger safety.

The next three pics , you can see where someone at CZ made a poor attempt to correct the issue.

This is what the finished product looks like now.  ;)

If that is the original version of the P-10C, like mine, you can contact CZ-USA and have repaired via their warranty program. They will also fix the  stiff mag release issue, if that's a problem.

Also, replace the cheap t-block with s Cajun SS one. I also suggest polishing the trigger bar to a bright finish and replacing the factory trigger with an HBI trigger. Made a world of difference for me.

I didn't mention it in my first post but yes, the mag release button was very stiff on this pistol. The problem was found as I was taking it apart.

Seems whom ever assembled this pistol at the CZ factory was not having a good day. About a third of the magazine catch spring was crushed and bent in about a 45 degree angle. I straightened the spring best I could, turned it over and put the bent end into the hole where it goes. It works alot better for now, until a new spring can be had.

Seems kind of petty for warranty work. Just hate to see what seems to be a good company make such careless mistakes.

NOTHING is too petty for warranty work. If they are not made aware of these issues they cannot address them with the factory and address QC or manufacturing problems that need to be remedied.

You make a very good point.

I will give CZ a call, forward a link to this thread and give them any other information they might need.
Who knows, maybe the will send me a new magazine catch spring.

Called CZ and just so everyone knows, their customer service is top notch. Talked to three different people and all were very polite and helpful. Told them what was going on and what I had done to the pistol. The response from all three was sorry I had problems and they would be more than happy to take it in for warranty. I told them thanks but that would not be necessary. They said if I didn't want to send it in they would be glad to send me the parts, seeing how I could change them myself, it was up to me. 8)
Long story short, parts are on the way and I also found out this pistol is one of the early models.

I think the mag release spring being damaged was something systematically wrong with CZ's process. Mine had the exact issue and I'll bet my spring looked exactly like yours. I'm also betting the many reports of stiff mag releases were caused by this too.

I sent mine in to warranty repair because my slide had been caught on the loose back plate on the first mag. So while they had it, they replaced the striker assembly and the mag release spring. It worked a lot better when I got the pistol back.

Instead of scrapping the gen1 mag catch design, I wish they would have just improved it. I also wish they would cut the slide for the new striker assembly as warranty repair as well.

Hiya Chuck James and thx for the thread and as Mr Kraft would the happy ending. It appeared that you first gave cz the chance to fix the issue and found they tried but not a proper fix. Was their attempt a partial fix or another fail? And I assume this was the work cz did out of kansas city, yes? Had you spoken to a smith from there as you made your initial work order up, so as to get the smith clear on what the problem(s) were to begin with?
I've had the mix bag of great and less than great experiences with warranty work sent to them, but have to credit them with at least representing they tried even when they failed the first time. So hope the take away for readers of your posts are that even tho expectations fell short initially, that as a process they came through to make sure the customer felt he was taken care of. Be well.

Negatory ghost rider......I've never sent the pistol back for warranty. The bad attempt at correcting the problem was during the original assembly at the factory. Someone made an attempt at removing the extra metal, left on the magazine catch, from the casting process but failed in their attempt. They did manage to crush the magazine catch spring. As far as where this pistols was built....I couldn't tell you.

Only after another forum member (SI VIS PACEM PARRABELLUM) brought it to my attention, that I should really let CZ know, did I give them a call.
That experience with CZ customer service and warranty was nothing less than "EXCELLENT"!!!!!!

From the time they sent me a label and I shipped the p10c to them, they did the work and I had it back the same week.
