P-09 reasembly - trigger problem
« on: March 28, 2019, 03:35:22 PM »
I have new P-09 and I'm learning to "gunsmith" it. I have put it together after some minor polishing (just trigger bar where it rubs the frame, to play it safe). So I'm certain it is still like new. Every part looks perfectly fine.

But the trigger is very lazy. It will come back normal after dryfire like 80% times, but other 20% it requires (very little) help to fully reset! In those times its little bit squeky, gritty and I can feel it rubs somewhere. But I can't find where and how. I have dissasembled it again, but its the same every time.
It is sure I'm doing something wrong - I would bet some pin is not fully seated and its a little bit off. I don't know what else could explain such behaviour? Any ideas?

Thanks! (sorry for my english, I'm from CZech Republic)

You probably did not assemble trigger return spring correctly. Longer leg should fit in the slot in frame and shorter leg into small hole in the trigger itself.

Compare what you are doing during reassembly to the details in these videos.  Maybe you can find the issue.

I've followed those videos. TRS is ok. When I move trigger bar spring aside (no pressure on trigger bar) it moves freely, smoothly and TRS works nice. Rubbing begins when I connect triger bar spring back and pressure will kick up.

When I try to keep TBS aside, move gun upside down and apply presure on trigger bar by finger, it works and it is smooth ... seems maybe like TBS itself rubs the slot inside trigger bar. Which Ive also polished a little bit, I forgot about that. Could this happen? Maybe geometry of the slot is very sensitive and if changed, wire will rub inside it?
I've tried it during polishing (to move spring inside groove) and it was very smooth, but maybe angles are different in reality. Is polishing that groove taboo?

I will try to buy spare trigger bar and test this.

Have you tried increasing the tension of the TBS? The TBS might be set too light (bent down to far). I am not 100% on this but i do not see any harm in giving it a try.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I've finally figured it out and it was interesting problem. Trigger bar spring had sharp edge from factory, at the end where it was cut from a wire. When I polished groove in trigger bar, it slightly changed geometry of said groove and sharp spring edge began to rub inside it. I've deburred and polished trigger bar spring and now the whole trigger is just absurdly smooth and light!
