Czech vs US CZs
« on: April 17, 2019, 07:30:58 AM »
I looked through the threads and couldn?t find this being discussed.

Now that the US-manufactured models have been out for awhile, how are they measuring up to the Czech-built cousins?  Fit/finish?  Operational characteristics?

We have quite a few of both Czech made P-10C's, F's, and severeal US made P-10's of the different sizes.

Fit and finish between them both is about the same. The finish on the US slides is nicer IMO. It's smoother and a  more rich black.

Number one difference is the barrels.

The US barrels feature a broach cut rifling vs CHF of the Czech made guns. All our US made barrels have quite rough rifling. But it doesn't seem to effect accuracy performance as it's on par with the Czech made guns. The US barrels are also SAAMI spec vs Czech made barrels are CIP spec. (Both US and Czech chambers are quite oversized and pretty sloppy overall.)

They also randomly changed the feed ramp design on the US made barrels. I have no idea why as the Czech made barrels function 100% fine in the US made guns and vise versa....so the feed ramp redesign obviously has no affect on anything for them to have changed it.

Overall, the US made P-10's are just fine and will get the job done just as well as the Czech made ones have been.

I have always loved CZ pistols, but I have zero interest in a "CZ" made in the USA.

Thanks for the observations, Raining_Brass. I don?t harbor any negative sentiments with a Made in USA, polymer frame, striker fired CZ. Now, a classic CZ 75 is a different story [emoji3]

Why? I think it's a good thing that they have decided to invest in this country and create a few more jobs and I would think parts availability will improve as well.

The same reason I prefer my Glocks to be Austrian made.

Awhile back, when I was buying that S&W .380 EZ, the guy behind the counter was telling me about all the issues they are seeing with pistols made in the USA.  He stated, and listed brands, of the pistols their customers were complaining about/trying to bring back to them vs. sending to the factory for repairs, due to problems.  He said it seemed that the pistols made at the original/foreign factories were still good quality pistols and the ones made at the new US factories were the ones having quality/functioning issues.

As they say, your mileage may vary.  It was just hear say.  I've not bought a SIG, Glock, CZ, etc. made in the USA.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Let's give the U.S. made CZ a chance, if anything hopefully the QC will be better.
If there is anybody can give working review of both Czech and U.S. made cz's, raining-brass probably handles more of each in a month's time than any of us ever will in a year.

I've heard people opine about American guns having more issues but I'm not buying any of it. Plenty of issues with foreign makes like the Caniks, EAA has had it's share, Sigs had issues at times even when made in Germany. European made Walthers were just as finicky as the American versions have been. Glocks had issues made in Austria. These companies are all watching the bottom line and they are all cutting corners to increase profits and that's not a practice exclusive to American manufacturing.
Let us not forget the botched CZ P10C rollout and those were Czech made guns.

Sorry for displaying my ignorance, but for those of us late to the show, could you explain what you're referring to?  I've heard of some rotating striker parts and the fix, but I don't know if that is what you meant.

My CZ P-10C is Czech made in August 2018, and has the notch in the rear plate; I don't know if there are any other things I need to look out for.
