I have installed wood grips from CZ USA on 4 CZ 82’s.  Yes, they will crack if you tighten them much, before making sure you have an even fit all the way around.  Even the plastic factory grips have to be relieved in the area around the safety, on both sides.  I used a dremel tool until this area, which is a thin point, doesn’t have pressure on it.  I cracked and repaired two sets, before I making sure they fit.  If you buy the surplus 82 being sold by J&G (best deal ever on a CZ 82) you will find the grips have been cracked off, under the safety.  I just tried to buy the grips again from CZ, and they are no longer available.

Sportsnut it's had to tell from your photo, but are the grip inserts in place?
They're short little metal tubes which fit inside the screw hole of the grip.
They prevent from tightening the screw too much and/or recoil impact.
One member fixed his cracked grips, with cyanoacrylate (CA) glue.
I research a bit and found wood pen crafters use it for finishing and strengthening their wood blanks.
I chose Starbond EM-02. Their claim was deep penetration, due to its viscosity just above water.
I finished my grips with 3 coats front and back sides.
You apply thin coats with your finger.
HINT: Use disposable nitrile gloves. I kind of found out after beginning, that body moisture on your fingers accelerates the CA curing process.

Yeah man the metal inserts are there. I should've tried to get them replaced after they broke the first time.

I will have to check mine, but I have had the grips off of both at one time or another and don't think I have the spacers mentioned on either one.
It's not saving any water if you have to flush it over and over....

From my research replacement grip inserts are non-existent. i was able to recycle mine from the original plastic grips. It appears they have no function other than a stop for the screw head. Possibly a small metal tubing would work? I had mine professionally "clean up" and blued.
Well the image insert didn't work, but i think the link did? https://imgur.com/ZjmQ1Gc
