Just to clarify...the bullets were brass plated steel jacketed. The cases are brass.

It all looked like brass.

Case and bullet jacket is non-magnetic. Scratched through, Bullet jacket is either solid brass or solid copper. Hey, if you'd rather sort through bogus cases and re-load the decent ones I understand. I'd rather spend my limited time at the range with good 9mm ammo I can buy in bulk for <16 cents/rnd.  Geco made by RUAG IMHO is one of the good ones.   YMMV

So, apparently GECO does make some magnetic rounds.
The 115gr and 124gr GECO I have purchased in bulk is NON-MAGNETIC. It's good ammo. Accurate, clean, consistent. I understand GECO is popular in IPSC competition.

If you buy new factory ammo, not reloaded GECO cases, from a reputable supplier like SGAmmo, they will confirm if it's non-magnetic IF you're concerned about that.

The case of ammo I bought was many years ago. The bullets were definitely steel jacketed, with a brass plating. Glad to hear they've gone to brass jackets.

I've run across those as well,  looked like brass, but was definitely steel, the magnet told the tale,  I was shocked, was about to reload them, glad I checked with a magnet.

I've never seen brass plated steel Geco cases, just projectiles.

I've seen the Geco 9mm made in Switzerland, Germany and the latest from SG Ammo (good price right now) is made in Hungary. According to the Q&A's on Target Sports USA, the Swiss bullets have a magnetic bi-metallic jacket. The Hungarian jackets are reportedly non-magnetic.

I repeat, all Geco cases are brass. Only some of the bullets are steel jacketed.

I just received a case of the 124 9mm Geco 'white box' Hungarian made from SGAmmo yesterday. It absolutly is non-magnetic. all brass. Good stuff - priced right.
It's accurate, clean, and fairly hot just like my SD ammo.

About 1.5 years ago my brother bought a case of Geco 9mm from Target Sports.  He brought it to his range, shot some, the range master said you are creating sparks, let me see that ammo - it was a magnetic BULLET - solid brass case. 

He sent target sports an email about it, they replaced it for free since it wasn't advertised as having steel in the bullet.

Maybe it helped that he bought a LOT of ammo from them.

IMHO geco 124 runs too hot for competition.  I usually try to keep my reloads around 1050 fps for quicker follow up shots in competition.  Accuracy isn't as impt as in bullseye shooting, esp inside 20 yds for the most part.

My Geco 9mm order from SGAMMO was delivered. It has letter "R" on the headstamp, which means RUAG factory.
Checked with magnet that it is not magnetic. Neither case nor projectile. Looking forward for my next range visit.
