I purchased 2 SRS1 kits and a Defensive Carry Package to install in my P01, SP01, and 97BD. The 97 was slated for the Defensive. Goals were different for each gun. The P01 had become my EDC, SP01 being an Urban Gray Tactical is a little long for AIWB, as is the 97BD, but I can. The SP01 and 97 were slated for mostly range and home defense.
First off, thanks to CGW for incredible customer service and fast shipping. Second, thanks to those who posted how to threads and videos for invaluable info.
The P01 install went pretty smooth for my first go round with tearing into a gun. I am a mechanically inclined man, I was not worried about complexity. I mostly wanted a shorter reset as I loved the short reset on my P229 Legion. I knew getting that close was not possible, but cutting down on the 6.5mm starting point was the goal. The gun shoots so well, not much else was desired. Installed kit, measured reset, was down to 4.3mm, not quite the 50% I hoped for, but I was ok with that. A quick call to CGW to ask a few questions (Thanks again for your input guys!) and I was good. Tested at range, all was ok.
Next I was going to put the SRS1 in the SP01. I changed my mind because the reset on the SP01 was 4.99mm from the factory. Previous call to CGW enlightened me as to why. The 97 was up next. The 97 had barely 500 rounds through it and is an awesome piece. Again, the reset was main goal to address, but the decision to go with the Defensive Carry Package was based on member inputs/reviews, etc. Again, the install went smooth other than one &#@# hammer pin holding the hammer strut. My 5/32" New roll pin punch is now a stubby. New CGW pins are the way to go. I upped the level of polishing, cleaned, and reassembled. Amazing change in the 97. Reset down to 3.5mm. Race Hammer looks and functions great. While testing at the range I was laughing while reloading mags. Kind of a satisfying laugh at my handy work.
I ordered additional parts for the SP01 after the experience with the 97BD. I did not know what to expect from the SRS due to the shorter starting point, but I was anxious to see the results. Additional parts from CGW brought the thing up to the Defensive Carry Package put into the 97, plus disconnector from CGW. Since supplemental parts were a few days away, I took the polishing to include every contact point any piece had with another, removed coating overspray, and coated them with tungsten disulfide. I did not coat any new parts. Reassembling and testing with the stock trigger spring revealed the smoothest feeling pull I personally have ever felt. Reset was measured at 2.74mm. I don't own a trigger pull gauge. I will invest in one. There is no other lube in the gun save for the WS2 (tungsten disulfide) dry film lube. I do not have complete faith or experience in this stuff to run the gun on it alone. I'll use my usual product and go from there. I think this will turn out better than the 97.
Now where is the mailman and how's my ammo supply?
